It does exactly what it says, and does it well. I pulled it out of the box and plugged one end into my Yamaha keyboard and the other into my MacBook. Garage Band immediately told me it deteced a MIDI input and it work from there on out. I also tried using it on a Roland XP-80 at church. After downloading a driver from Cakewalk's website, it worked like a charm. I love it. No latensy whatsoever. I love it! It was a great investment.
I got this MIDI USB interface for my Alesis drum machine and it works wonderfully. The disc refused to install the drivers on my Windows 7 64 bit machine but luckily Cakewalk has all drivers for all operating systems on their website. I installed the Windows 7 drivers and before you know it, my drum machine was integrated with my computer perfectly! The great thing about this interface versus the other cheaper ones out there is that it has the indicator lights on it along with a handy MIDI test button to ensure everything is hooked and a signal is being sent between your computer and devices. No matter what computer you are on or what device you are using, you have a simple and fast way to troubleshoot your devices when they are not working. No more installing silly software to troubleshoot MIDI connections! Lastly, this thing runs off the PC's power via USB, so you won't be needed to have to plug it into a precious outlet that can be used for your other music devices like a mixer or drum machine.Great highly recommended product for beginners and professionals from a well respected company (Cakewalk). I have used other MIDI USB hubs before and this one works the best.
Basically, i looked at the M-audio 1-in 1-out midi interface and it had some bad reviews and seemed inconsistent.i ordered this and BAM now i got it running with my m-audio Axiom 25 and my Roland Vs-880ex. its easy to use, you gotta put in a disk to load it up, but why is that such a big deal to some people?it seems sturdy and is definitely reliable. i have NEVER had a problem with a Roland product. BUY THIS, spend 10 bucks more and enjoy its simplicity... and BTW the advanced driver it has works great if you have a ASIO driven card. however on my laptop i had to download a seperate ASIO driver program. small stepping stone, not uncommon. anyways, enjoy guys
