OVERVIEW

61-note portable keyboard with SD card slot and USB connectivity.

The CTK-6200 is ideal for all ambitious music lovers: It inspires creative music making and music production with its 61 piano-style keys, 210 rhythms and 700 tones, plus a tone and rhythm editor and pitch bend wheel. Naturally, the extensive features also include an audio input to connect a CD or MP3 player. This features lets you listen to your favorite tunes through the keyboard speakers in Playback mode and play along on the keyboard. The CTK-6200 really gets your creative juices flowing!

Song Sequencer
The Song Sequencer provides 16 tracks plus one system track that supports recording of up to five songs and a total of approximately 12,000 notes. Each individual musical instrument part can be recorded to a different track for real multi-track recording capabilities. A full selection of editing tools include event insert, event delete, event copy, quantize, a locator feature for selecting the range of notes to be edited, and more. A step recording function also lets you input notes by specifying the length and pitch. Completed recordings can be converted to SMF (Standard MIDI File) format and stored to an SD memory card.

Rhythm Editor
Rhythm Editor lets you combine instrument parts from multiple built-in rhythms, turn individual instrument parts on or off, and adjust volume, pan, reverb, and other parameters to create your own original rhythms. You can even create original rhythms for NORMAL, FILL IN, INTRO, and ENDING accompaniment patterns. You can store up to 10 original rhythms in memory for instant recall whenever you need them.

Multiple Digital Effects
Built-in effects include reverb (10 types), chorus (5 types), and DSP (100 types using 46 effect types including delay, phaser, flanger, wah, rotary, and more). You can apply different effects to a tone to create exactly the sound you want. By adjusting the parameters of the DSP effect types, you can create original DSP effects and store up to 100 original types in memory for later recall.

Arpeggiator
With the arpeggiator, you can play various arpeggios and other phrases automatically by simply pressing keys on the keyboard. You can select from 150 different arpeggiato types, including playing arpeggios from a fingered chord, guitar phrases, and more.

SD Memory Card Slot
Song sequencer, tone editor, and other data can be saved to an SD or SDHC memory card. SMF (Standard MIDI File) data stored on an SD or SDHC memory card can be played back on the digital keyboard.

USB Port
The USB port provides easy computer and MIDI send/receive connection. It also enables quick and simple transfer of song sequencer, pattern sequencer, tone editor and other data, as well as audio data recorded to an SD memory card from an audio device between the digital keyboard and a computer. Download of a special Data Manager 6.1 application is required in order to transfer data to a computer.

700 Built-in Tones and 10 User Tones
The AHL sound source delivers a lineup of 700 different built-in tones. You also can store up to 10 of your own original tones for instant recall whenever you need them.

210 Preset Rhythms and Auto Accompaniment
A total of 210 preset rhythms cover a wide range of musical genres, from rock and pops, to jazz, Latin, piano pieces, and more. Simply select the built-in rhythm you want and Auto Accompaniment provides you with backup that is the next best thing to having a professional band at your disposal.

Comments about Casio CTK-6200 61-Note Portable Keyboard:

Over all it is a great Keyboard that has a bunch of sounds and the majority of them of very good not just for the price which is very good itself but period.
I would say that the user category should be decided by the user instead of factory preset. After all anything with this many sound options is bound to have differences in which sounds get used the most, and some sounds can be a ways into the other categories.
Still the majority of the sound are of very good pro level quality. I found the guitar a bit off but then I'm primarily a guitar player so maybe I'm picker than most in that area. Besides the 210 preset drum beats there is the option to use one of a number of drum sets to make your own beats. I do wish they where not buried near the end of the GM/Drum category though.
Still this is a very good Keyboard I just thought pointing out some of the short comings would be more helpful than just saying it's awesome buy it.

Comments about Casio CTK-6200 61-Note Portable Keyboard:

CONS:
1. NO SAMPLING! I originally looked at lower-priced models that had sampling, and assumed that this more expensive and advanced model would also include it.
2. No mic input ability. On lower-priced models, you can input and record voice and singing, but not on this model.
3. There is only one footswitch connection, so you can't (for example) control the sustain and turn on/off the drum machine. You have to choose which one you want to use. Even after setting the choice, once powered off, the keyboard forgets the setting. I usually want to control the drum machine, but it defaults to sustain function.
4. Some of the sounds (tones) are really artificial/fake sounding. This would be common to other Casio keyboards, so not a model issue. Why have sound choices to scroll through (like "Violin") that sound nothing like the real instrument? It would have been better to leave those off.

PROS
1. Recording ability built in.
2. Pitch wheel. Not essential, and a bit of a toy feature, but sort of fun.
3. Fairly good and full sound out of the speakers.

In hindsight, I would have gone with the next model down (CTK-4400), which had the features I wanted and less of the complex features that I might not use (such as the sound editing and production).

Comments about Casio CTK-6200 61-Note Portable Keyboard:

I was pleasantly surprised by this keyboard. It has all of the features I need and then some. I use it mainly as a controller for my DAW Software Sounds such as Reason and EZ Keys Piano. I will most likely utilize the 16 track sequencer for some song composition. The sequencer seems very easy to use. There is a bit of a learning curve on accessing some of the features as with any new product, but the manual helps. The manual could be a little better in explaining some things, but with experimentation you can figure out how to use the features.

Comments about Casio CTK-6200 61-Note Portable Keyboard:

There is not a balance between the tones volume. one tone is higher in volume, the other lower, so it creates challenge when you are playing your music. , and there is not any volume balance knob to immediately adjust the volume of accompaniment vs the tones.Overall comparing to the price it is a good keyboard.

Haven't had it long enough to know everything about it, but seems to be a great keyboard for the price. Samples are very very good. Functionality is broad, but be prepared to spend lots of time with the manual, which is reasonably understandable. Sounds very good through a PA.
