Great sound quality, enhanced tools, and instructional features for amateur and intermediate musicians.

76 standard-size keys make the Casio WK-225 a great step toward learning the piano while providing all the technology of a full-featured digital keyboard at an exceptional price. The WK-225 features piano-style, touch-response keyboard and 48-note polyphony so you can play dense arrangements without notes dropping out. Like the Casio CTK-4200, it has a 5-song/6-track recorder and 600 dynamic, inspirational sounds to choose from, including a stereo grand piano. Built-in reverb and chorus effects add depth and realism to the sounds.

Plus, the Casio WK-225 has features to take you further than a piano can, including a mic input with sampling (up to 10 seconds); 180 built-in rhythms that provide individual drum patterns or a full accompaniment in a variety of styles, providing a virtual backup band that follows your chord changes. Lightweight and compact, it can operate on battery power so you can take your music anywhere with you, or you can use its included AC power adapter.

The Casio WK-225 also features Casio's Step Up Lesson System, which allows novice users to learn at their own individual pace. Utilizing the LCD display, aspiring musicians can learn both music notation and correct hand positioning, while Casio’s innovative lesson system evaluates performance so you can track your progress.

I bought this little fella for jamming at home. I'm surprised at how good it sounds for the price. I like that I don't need an amp in my apartment because it has on-board speakers. The split feature is cool for bass in the left hand and on-board drummer to keep the beat.

the biggest drawback, which is substantial,is no level control on layered or split tones. This makes the keyboard almost useless as a performance instrument. Also no midi functions, no synth functions and no mixer functions. These are very serious drawbacks!! For instance if you layered strings with organ, there is no way to control the levels of these tones relative to each other. Very serious design ommission!!!

Comments about Casio WK-225 76-Key Portable Keyboard:

Keyboard has realistic pianos and organs. Some horns sound pretty good but the strings are average at best. One of the best features are the lessons built in to the board. This has helped me (a bass player) to learn easier and has sparked an interest in some of my grandkids. You can slow the tempo down to as slow as you need until you get it. Keyboard also plays and feels great. Casio has made a product well worth the money.

Comments about Casio WK-225 76-Key Portable Keyboard:

You have to play about an inch from the back of the WK-225 keys for them to sound. Really curve your fingers, because the keys are already more than 1/2" shorter than standard. The WK-110 which I was wishing to replace plays fine despite its short keys. But it's discontinued. Thanks, Casio.

Now I don't know what to buy. I am a professional player, but I'm not strong enough for bigger pianos, and neither the stage nor my car trunk are wide enough for an 88.

Comments about Casio WK-225 76-Key Portable Keyboard:

We bought this for our son for Christmas. He has a much more expensive Alesis, but it is too big and heavy to haul around, needs external speakers, and power supply. This keyboard has the speakers, is very light, and can run on batteries. He wanted a keyboard with 76 keys. He seems to like the keyboard. We bought it remanufactured, but it looked brand new.

Comments about Casio WK-225 76-Key Portable Keyboard:

I am a newbie, so your opinion may differ. Stupid Deal of the Day; fairly quick shipping, box was damaged from handling, contents were okay. This was a refurbished model and I could not see anything other than the packaging marked "refurbished" that would have suggested anything different from a new keyboard as it was in pristine condition. Came with A/C adapter and manual. Way too many features for someone at my skill level, but will probably grow into them at some point. Instructions are pretty good, room for improvement though. Wish the keys had some sort of markings above/below them with the corresponding notes for now, that is just the beginner in me talking. A good buy for someone who is not sure about spending money on a keyboard, but does not want to sacrifice on quality or features that they will need as they become more proficient. Definitely worth it.

For the price it's hard to beat. I am very happy with this keyboard and love the sound quality. Volume of on board speakers is not very loud. I typically play at 90% volume when playing for my family of 4. Headphones option is perfect for practicing.
