The CME VX-8 is an intelligent keyboard-style MIDI controller with an 88 key graded hammer-action keyboard plus motorized faders and a dedicated transport section. Together with the plentiful programmable controls, automation, setup memory, and the U-CTRL software control capabilities, it makes the VX-8 a controller that meets the demands of the 21st century musician or producer. USB MIDI and audio allows the VX to interface directly with your PC's music software with no additional hardware. The U-CTRL function adheres to the popular Mackie Control template, allowing you to easily interface with virtually any feature of your DAW or sequencer software without taking your hands off of the VX. The multifunction expansion slot gives you many options for upgrading, including a sound module with sample function, analog synthesizer module, FireWire audio interface module, digital mixing console module, and more.

As of 10/27/08, these units will contain CME's 1.10 firmware which provides fixes for known bugs and glitches, improved system stability, and more.

I purchased my VX-8 last fall and I absolutely love it. Wonderful controller, good deal. It, in combination with Reason 4.0 beats the HECK out of my friends K2600XS. Just kicks IT!

This is probably the most advanced midi controller I've ever worked with. It is loaded with features. Some of the more unique features are the motorized faders, and the endless encoders. The motorized faders are basically this boards claim to fame. They're pretty neat. Setting this up was a little bit difficult at first, and be warned... the users manual offers no help at all. Basically it tells you what not to do with your midi controller, such as pouring liquids on it and stuff. You'll probably have to go online to get more detailed instructions for setting it up. Another great feature of this keyboard, is that it's built like a tank. It may weigh a ton (73 lbs) but you don't have to worry about keys breaking or knobs falling off. It's great if you plan on using it live, where there may be a little bit of rough handling. Overall, I highly recommend this keyboard. Even if it does seem a little bit high on the price, it's well worth the extra money.
