Hammond

The power, tradition and soul of a B-3 in a super portable package.

The Hammond SK1 is the first ultra-portable organ in its history, weighing in at just 15 pounds, and the first Hammond portable to feature a wide range of Extra Voices. The "Drawbar" section is a complete Hammond Organ with all the traditional features: Real Mechanical Drawbars, Chorus Vibrato, Touch-Response Percussion, and the most authentic Digital Leslie Hammond has ever offered. "Vx" and "Farf" combo organ models are also available, as well as an assortment of fine classical Pipe Organ voices derived from their 935 Church Organ. Acoustic and Electric Pianos, Clavs, Accordions, Vintage String Synth, Wind Instruments and Tuned Percussion round out the sound selection though you can download more via the USB port. The SK1 also has a MP3 Music Player and a new-generation "Digital Leslie" that gives the big speaker a run for the money.

Satisfying Hammond organ sounds in a portable instrument. Much better than any synthesizer or digital piano.

          Comments about Hammond SK1 Organ:

I am so thrilled to finally have the authentic Hammond organ sound I've always dreamed of. The band went crazy when I showed up with the SK1 under my arm last week. The Leslie effect is amazing and when I kicked in a little distortion and percussion they went wild. I've always played at least two keyboards in my setup over the years. Last weekend, I only took the SK1 and it was a smashing success! I'm ready to start selling all my other keyboards.

            Comments about Hammond SK1 Organ:

First of all, as you've probably heard, this organ has an incredible tonewheel Hammond sound (actually the sounds of a few Hammonds ranging from a new B3 on the showroom floor in 1958 to a beat-up warhorse that's played every bar and roadhouse in the state for the past 45 years). The Hammond sounds are rich and creamy with incredible percussion and C/V effects. It also has the sounds of a Vox Continental and Super Continental and a Farfisa Combo Compact - all awesome combo organs from the '60's, and these sounds are incredible and all the original controls of those organs are there and they work just like they should. Then there's a couple electric pianos, a Clavinet, an acoustic piano - these may not be the best in the world, but they could be very useful in a live band setting. Then there are tons of samples of all kinds of things that might come in handy (strings, vocals, etc). I don'at use that stuff much so I can't really say how good they are. Then there's some nice reverbs and delays, a Leslie sim that can be programmed to be pretty good (but the organ sounds much better through a really good sim or the real thing). And the whole thing is tiny and weighs close to nothing - you can carry it with one hand and toss it in the back seat of your car without missing a beat. It feels solid and looks cool with its burgundy sparkle end pieces!
