Like carrying a Hammond B-3 under your arm!

The Hammond XK-3 Drawbar Keyboard is the perfect answer to an age-old problem—how to get that fabulous B-3 sound without actually lugging a B-3 to your gigs. Hammond took the task upon themselves and created a sophisticated and unique technology that uses 96 digital tone wheels to create a tonal replica of the B-3 that's so accurate even died-in-the-wool B-3 fanatics can't hear the difference. A vacuum tube warms up the signal with continuous level change all the way up to serious overdrive. The XK-3 is a single keyboard version of the acclaimed New B-3.

It's equipped with 12 reverse key presets, 3 sets of drawbars, 2-rotor digital Leslie, and 6-position rotary vibrato/chorus knob—all the features you expect to find on a B-3.

And the XK-3 does plenty the B-3 never could such as pitch bend/modulation, transpose, and MIDI. 132 programmable patches let you save your own drawbar combinations, MIDI info, and any other settings. At a mere 43 lbs., it won't break your back or your budget.

I recently purchased the Hammond xk-3 and truly find it to be a suitable replacement for my 59 B3. As vintage B3 guy (30yrs now), I've been waiting a long time for a clonewheel organ to sound as good as my B3, and it has arrived in the form of the xk-3. The internal presets are very good, although I'd dumped 70% of them and replaced them with my own (which are better suited for my playing). The tube overdrive is a great feature, and one I use often, but the real beauty of the xk-3 lies deep in the control panel. The range of parameters that one can control really sets it apart from the competition, along with the latest VASE technology. The other B3 clones (you know who they are) do a nice job, but they're still "close but still no Hammond." The leslie sim is very good, and fully customizible (from tone cabinet selection to amount of bleed) and while I prefer a true leslie, I don't want to move one anymore, and this fits the bill perfectlly. Was it a little expensive, perhaps, and frankly the Lower Manual option (while a great idea to make a true dual manual organ), is WAAAAY overpriced (since it is nothing but a fancy wood framed controller). All the brains for the lower are found in the xk-3, so I simply midi to my Kawai MP9000, and set the lower setting, and voila, a two manual Hammond.I'd recomment the xk3 for anyone who needs authentic Hammond sound as a staple sound in their arsenal. Nothing else on the market comes close and I've played them all. If you're and old Hammond player, you'll be right at home at the xk3.In a word, "buy it".

I was playing this keyboard in a rock concert. While I was in the middle of my solo, my key got stuck and then there was a high pitch sound. The audience got up and left while I was trying to fix it. Some people got permanent hearing damage. Man! Man! Man! Man!

Love Those XK3's Keys, Smooth and Silky!!

    By Litetackle

    from Daly City, CA.

Played my first Hammond (B3)back in the 60's and now I know why I had to get this keyboard. This keyboard is just like playing the B3 it self. I've played various keyboards and they cannot touch what Hammond Suzuki has put out. The XK3 is the epitome of all keyboards.Try one and hear the sounds and the feel of the keys themselves, their smooth and fast. If any keyboard could get a ticket for speeding, it would be the keyboards smooth "Acceleration".

    1957 B3 now for sale!

    By RIHammond

    from Rhode Island

I made the change to the XK3 pro system and I can't believe how impressed I am with the sound and flexability. The global user adjustments that can be made allow you to change and shape the sound that you want to hear. My '57 B3 that I have played for over 15 years is no longer #1. The XK3 side by side has better modern capabilites and "dream" uses such as MIDI, digital reverb and lots of lots of presets. The sound was a little too bright for me at first until I played around with the parameters and got exactly the sound I was looking for. Don't like something? Hold that button and then adjust that feature or item. It has taken Hammond 50 years to finally get it right with no compromises for an old B3 player such as myself. I have a hot rodded 147 Leslie with the rig because nothing will replace the way the Leslie "throws" the sound around a room. The XK3 Leslie simulator was kinda wierd and not right, however with a real tube Lesile the sound is unmistakenly Hammond B3. I have been playing each organ side by side and the XK3 doesn't owe anything to the original B3. Buy it and you won't be dissapointed. This is a rig you and your back have been waiting for.

    My new Hammond XK3

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I just purchased a new Hammond XK3 for my 1st organ and simply love it! I have played the Korg CX3 a couple times and really liked it, but the XK3 seems to have a warmer more B3 like sound. I also increased the mic angle in the on board Leslie up to 180 which made for a more stereophonic and realistic Leslie sound through my old EMF solid state twin 12" woofer amplifier. With the tubes burning on high, I pretty much nailed that sound in Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf, especially that dramatic incredible ending, now that's a feat only a Hammond can do.

I used to own a B3 in the 60s. Hated to part with it. I remember turning it on and floating away with the huge moving sound of it.When I turn on the XK-3 and spin my leslie I'm right back where I was meant to B.Nice size, nice sounds, great keyboard.

    Best organ sound ever

    By stimpy77

    from Scottsdale, AZ

I have heard a huge number of B-3 clones. Although I don't play the B-3 regularly, I used to play guitar standing right next to one in church, and as a keyboard lurking enthusiast I am very quick at discerning authenticism from first impressions. The B-3 has a sound that is unique and has thus far been the primary organ sound to copy, and most copies sound horribly off. However, I have to say that for a couple years now I've been listening to five XK-3 MP3 demos for entertainment. The first time I heard these demos I put on my headphones and was in awe for the whole night as I replayed the music over and over again. I have the Korg CX-3 demos, too, and frankly I am disgusted by them; performances aside, the CX-3 really sounds canned, especially the leslie simulation. I have never heard such pleasant and B3-like sounds from a portable keyboard in my life, and although I don't own the XK-3, I have been wanting one since I discovered it.

    xk3 vacumm tube preamp flaw

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

I bought the Hammond Xk3 It sounded great. I had experienced a problem with the vacumm tube preamp. All I did was plug in the organ to my leslie 21. The organ made an unpleasant very high end whistle. The vacumm tube went microphonic the preamp is buried inside the organ so you will have to open up the organ to change the tube but that will void out any warrenties. For the money they should make it accessible to change the tube on the fly what happens if this happened at a gig or a recording session. You cant keep on opening up your organ to change bad or old tubes. Tubes will burn out or go microphonic sooner or later.

    Hammond gets it right!

    By Fossdog

    from Detroit, Mi

I have owned a number of Hammonds through the years (M3/BV/C2/3 B3s/XB-2/XK-2/XK-3) and Hammond finally came out with a portable that's almost as much fun to play as a real B3! The other clones and the earlier models are just toys by comparison. If Hammond/Suzuki makes as much improvement on their next model, they will make my '59 B3 obsolete. Well done Hammond!

    Amazing

The modeling is full of wonderment. Sounds as good as the real thing if you know how to work it. The preset banks are a nice addition too.
