OVERVIEW

(Open Box) Exceptionally fine touch in an elegant digital piano.

The CE220 boasts the AWA PROII wooden-key action, one that has been found on many award-winning Kawai instruments. This was the feature most often cited by owners of the CE200 as the reason for their purchase. With the CE220 Kawai has added to this popular feature several other upgrades and new features as well, including Kawai's Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound technology with 88-key piano sampling, which produces a more detailed, clear and realistic piano sound. It also comes with a convenient USB to Device capability. This allows you to record a song or practice session to a USB memory stick. The song can then be played on another instrument or loaded into a computer for printing a score or emailing to a friend or teacher.

Another significant upgrade is 192-note polyphony, nearly 100 more than it's predecessor.
Another sweet feature the CE220 has is both a Dual Mode, in which two sounds are played at the same time, and a Split mode, in which one sound plays on the left side of the keyboard and another sound plays on the right side. A special 4-Hands Mode creates two identical 44-note pianos on the keyboard - great for piano lessons or for duets.
The CE220 has a convenient Balance Slider on the panel that controls the balance in a Dual or Splt Keyboard mode, two headphone jacks, a built-in metronome with a variety of time signatures, 100 built-in rhythms, 29 classic piano songs stored insides with an accompanying music book for learning, as well as a MIDI, Line In, Line Out jacks, and an extra USB jack.

Finally, Kawai's designers gave the CE220 a beautiful premium satin black finish with matching bench, a sliding key cover, and three pedals which offer the same functionality as Kawai's world-class acoustic grand pianos.

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

Very Clear HQ sound. Almost real piano touch.
Fantastic, Like a real piano, It sounds as "Kawai acustic grand piano" not a real-real acustic tone but make exceptional sounds. Sound and feels like my other Kawai acustic grand piano. Not much whistles and bells but high quality sounds. It is Simple and Easy to use. 192 polyphony makes much better simulating as a real piano sound.
Keyboard touch sensitivity was very impressive. made with real wood, solid. not a plastic junk.
Affordable price too.

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

I ordered this piano online based on research and reviews only. I must admit I was somewhat nervous ordering a piano online without being able to see it or hear what it sounds like. I am happy to say that I am very pleased with my purchase!

This piano has a realistic, full-bodied sound and is a great furniture piece as well. Although I will mostly use it for my own enjoyment and practicing for church accompaniment, I think it would be very functional for many uses including teaching piano, school bands, or piano students, etc.

The box came somewhat damaged on the bottom, but everything inside was in perfect condition. I found the assembly instructions quick and easy to follow.

The fact that it was shipped a full month before the proposed shipping date was a bonus! It arrived on the projected delivery date and was very exciting to receive during the Christmas holidays - an extra special Christmas present!

I would not hesitate to make this type of purchase again from Musician's Friends in the future and I will certainly recommend it for anyone looking for an instrument. Truly a positive experience!

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

Musician's Friend - Ordered piano on 4/1 (Monday). Got a call from MF on Tues, - credit card didn't go through. They tried it again and volia - went though. Paid extra for express shipping. No ship Tuesday. No ship Wed. Called and MF cust. service appologized - said it would go out 'overnight.' Shipped on Thurs. via freight. (I guess they didn't say over what night.)Won't be delivered until the following week. Freight company calls on Monday (1 week after order) to set up delivery. They can't make it until Wednesday. So, 10 days after placing the order, the piano arrives. Called MF again to complain about extra shipping cost for 'express' shipping. MF offered twenty off my next order - seriously?

The CE220 Piano - This is a terrific practice piano with a touch nearly like our Kawai grand. While it can't, of course, compete with an true acoustic piano, it comes the closest of any digital we've tried. It's a great deal for the price. (The included bench is sufficient.)

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

Shipping took longer than expected. Crate was very beat up and broken on the outside. Top of piano (keyboard) is very heavy and the instructions and manual packed underneath, so had to download instructions first from the internet. Piano was packed very well underneath the first carton, so no damage at all. Was not too hard to assemble, except the lifting of the top. The pedal anchor was too high, so it fell out after assembly. It was very difficult to get it back in. Once put together, the piano is even better than I thought when I bought it. Very satisfying to practice on--and I am a professional pianist. Definitely a wonderful instrument for a beginner. I will be recommending it to students and friends. I LOVE it! Also it looks fantastic. Very realistic concert grand touch and sound. It's hard to believe what you can buy for this price.

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

This is a great piano. Of course it cannot compete with an acoustic,
but for the money this will serve all my needs. The 3 piano modules
are all quite good and I appreciate the way sounds can be "mixed" using tools that are right above the keyboard. I've had this for only a week right now,
and I'm not quite sure if the middle range is strong enough to match the bass and treble. Still, all in all, this is an excellent instrument and investment.

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

I was very hesitant to buy an electronic piano online, since picking out an instrument is a very personal thing. However, every review I read about this piano was glowing, and it had all the features I was looking for, particularily wooden keys. So I decided to give it a try and have had it for six months now. This piano has lived up to it's great reviews. The feel of the keys are incredibly realistic and the sound (especially through headphones) is fantastic. I did hook up a subwoofer to give the built-in speakers a little boost, but other than that, this is the best electronic piano out there for under $2000. It feels solid and looks beautiful. Musician's Friend was great to deal with and shipped it right on time. It is heavy, so make sure you have two people to assemble it.

I demoed a number of home digital pianos and felt this one was the best. I'm not a pro but have owned and played for a 30+ years. The assembly was simple and the action, feel and sound is fantastic.

Musician's Friend was great to work with and the delivery came even earlier than promised.

Comments about Kawai CE220 Digital Piano:

I work in remote areas where it is difficult to find a piano tuner. I've been so pleased with this piano that I've authorized the purchase of it three times at various places where I work. We have been very satisfied with the realistic sound. We primarily use it as a piano to accompany congregational singing and don't need other features so don't use them. It is perfect for our needs to replace an acoustic piano.

Set up was very straightforward. The keys' feeling and response are out of this world. Though some people criticize the small on board speakers, in a small practice room this thing sounds pretty amazing. If your studio doesn't have room for a baby grand, this is one hell of a way to re-create the touch and sound you are looking for. Absolutely no complaints.

Experienced to describe myself might be a bit of a stretch. However, I do enjoy playing even with my limited skills. Piano sounds like a real piano, nice touch sensitive keys, easy to assemble but definitely need assistance to install main unit. This is a replacement for my standard upright which I donated as part of our downsizing efforts. I am very pleased with the purchase.
