Comments about Kawai ES100 Portable Digital Piano:

Good instrument at a very good price. This piano has a ton of good reviews as being one of the top ten digital pianos on the market. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Comments about Kawai ES100 Portable Digital Piano:

First, the key sensitivity is excellent over a wide range of pressures. It actually responds better to soft touch than many regular pianos that I've played.

Second, while I was expecting an "electronic" sound to the basic piano, it sounds like a real piano, including the secondary harmonics would would expect from resonance with other strings.

It's not to be confused with a keyboard that has hundreds of voices, it only has a limited set of voices, but if you want a keyboard that acts like a piano, sounds like a piano, this is a winner.

It has many other features I haven't tried yet, but then, I was just looking for something that would be a piano, and this is it.

Comments about Kawai ES100 Portable Digital Piano:

Extremely surprised at the quality considering the price. I previously used a Fatar feeding a midi settup, and had a wide variety of piano sounds. The Fatar key response, while modeled on a steinway, is actually inferior to this device. Totally shocked. Totally.

Comments about Kawai ES100 Portable Digital Piano:

This was purchased to go along with a new series of beginning piano courses at the local community college. Compared to the brand the school uses the Kawai keys feel more lively and at the same time more nuanced. The keys have a slight spring to them and don't feel like a bland up and down lever action. Sound quality is great but it is worth spending a few minutes going through some of the options as it may not match the environment it is going to be in right out of the box. Accessing the features is easy enough once you get used to pressing the right face buttons and piano keys at the same time. The feature set is somewhat minimal compared to other brands in the +/- price range but the quality of the key feel and overall sound quality more than make up for it and, let's face it, who really needs 14 harpsichord sounds? The longest dimension is 51" and it weighs 35 pounds so you'll have to decide how portable it is. Overall it's a perfect combination of price/quality/features and should last through the years and the (hopeful) increase in skill.

Comments about Kawai ES100 Portable Digital Piano:

Excellent touch and piano sound(s),which is all I wanted. I don't use the rest, except perhaps metronome and drums when playing scales and such. I play cocktail piano at restaurants. Well, come to think of it I use the save-a-song and shoot midi out to a various sometimes. It could use recording more than 3 or so songs, but that is minor. Just use your midi-recorder to record more performances.
At a great price. Shakes a bit if you don't have a sturdy frame stand, but that is solved with a good frame stand --- one for carpet and one for solid floor.
Good for performing if you're not the lead. Doesn't look like a "big, huge hunk" of a piano on stage, so if you're the star could be disappointing for the audience: you know how looks are everything. But great if you accompany or are hidden behind the guitar player.
Is just as good for touch and sound as a twice-three-times-the-price piano keyboard. The touch is the strongest point, along with the excellent main paino sound(s). I wanted a good piano and this is it.
All I wanted was a piano for practice and restaurant performing, an alternative at home to my upright (because the neighbors hear everything), this piano is a great choice. Is light and easy to carry around, about 25 pounds. Hope they built it solid so it lasts, you know how hauling stuff around is --- don't know yet about that.
Glad I got it, worth the low total price along with a stand and bench and 3-pedal. Heck, buy two of them.

Comments about Kawai ES100 Portable Digital Piano:

This is my first digital piano. Bought it to continue to learn music after a year of lessons. Due to the fact that I move a lot from place to place every 6 months to a year, this is the perfect size to move around. The sound from the speakers are great, and the action is realistic for a beginner/intermediate piano player. Sometimes I forget it's digital and am able to be lost in playing music. This of course is my only goal for this digital piano. For the price, portability and playing quality it is perfect for my needs.
