Comments about Korg miniKP KAOSS Pad:
I got this on one of MF stupid deals of the day and I'm glad I did. It is a fun device which allows me to apply dynamic edits that simple effects processors don't. It is very versatile and fun to use. I've purchased two 1/4" to auxiliary converters and plugged my guitar right into this device. This setup gives me a lot of control over the sounds I want to make, including warbly electronic sounds. The only complaint I could have is that when silent, this device creates its own minor hiss sound. So basically if its plugged into a recording device and nothing is playing through it, you pick up electronic distortion. Otherwise the quality is great, and it is a metal body construction so it's quite sturdy.
Pros
- Easy To Use
- Functional
- Plug-n-experiment
Cons
- Plastic Case Is A Concern
Best Uses

Comments about Korg miniKP KAOSS Pad:
As an amateur guitarist/bassist/keyboardist/singer/songwriter, I've cycled through a number of effect pedals and rack gear setups...I found most to be similar in sound and in how they're brought into play. However, the miniKP KAOSS PAD brings a whole new spectrum of audio possibilities with the application of multiple effects at your finger tip, literally. The pad is easy to figure out and the built in patches offer an almost infinite range of combinations to jazz up your sounds. Adds dramatic effect to my simple keyboarding skills and vocals. I've not yet tried this with guitar or bass, but I see opportunities to put this to use with those, too. My only concern is the plastic case and on/off switch...I'm a little extra careful with this unit, but so far it is solid and the sounds are meeting/beating expectations.

Comments about Korg miniKP KAOSS Pad:
I use this as part of my effects rig for my trumpet... yes, my trumpet. This the last on my chain before the final volume pedal. I originally had this at the very end to utilize the stereo function, but some patches got away from me and overpowered the rest of the band. The touch pad is a very intuitive interface that you can use with one finger (while playing a trumpet in the other hand). I also use this for outboard gear for recording purposes. Again, it's much easier to use the touch pad while editing track sounds in real time. I've had it for more than 3 years, and I'm still learning about what this guy can do. Get it. Totally worth it.
Comments about Korg miniKP KAOSS Pad:
I bought one of these beauties back in October of '08, and it became inherently obvious that the creators of this amazing little tool weren't JUST seeking to appease the DJs of the world with it: everyone from the average guitarist to the raunchiest noise-maker will find something useful out of this, I've been able to conjure up with sounds that range from the more brooding and atmospheric Melvins' songs to industrial-tinged grit that could make Front Line Assembly cry. You can get some great sounds with it as a standalone unit, but it shines when combined with any other number of pedals as well. Korg's KAOSS line might just be the new "secret weapon" of studios and musicians worldwide, anyone looking to spice up their sound should invest in one of these IMMEDIATELY.
Comments about Korg miniKP KAOSS Pad:
It amazes me everything that this little box can do. I'm a huge Muse fan, so like everyone else I decided to rip of God (Matthew Bellamy) by purchasing a KP. Knowing this isn't the same model that Bellamy uses and knowing it wouldn't get his exact sounds, mind you. The unit is ace for doing DJ-esque techniques with music, but for using it with a guitar it could be a bit better. It is a REAL tone sucker, so beware of that, but in a bypass I'm sure it would be just fine. The delays and flangers are all great, as well as the tap-killswitch effects that can be done (a la Zvex Volume Probe). The synth models are the best part and are the funnest things to tinker with. I recommend this product to anyone, except for the hardcore Muse fan wanting exactly what Bellamy has. If you want Bellamy's sounds, get a KP2, because this won't be perfect. It will get you close, but not spot on.
