I bought this controller to interface its pads with Akai's iMPC pro App for iPad, and other iPad Apps. I had to do a little digging into the manual, no problem, it was easy to program for sure. Matter of fact programming setups and saving them is very easy compared to any controller I have ever used. In order to use it with my iPad Air, I purchased the Focusrite itrack dock from Musicians Friend. These two pieces of gear make a great combo for lightning iPads. There are cons however to this beauty of a keyboard controller, namely the Pots or knobs. Oh boy are they bad. M-audio used endless pots that either value up/down at a very slow rate, or in big spurts when you get frustrated. So forget about controlling cutoff and resonance in your EDM. Not sure if firmware can fix the Pot problem? Other than that, it is a cosmetically attractive board, with quality construction (keys, pads, display).

I was excited to receive the Axiom Air 25, but ended up returning it because the HyperControl software was incompatible with Logic Pro X running on the latest Mac OS X, despite what was indicated in the product description. After updating firmware, software, etc., and checking the M-Audio forums, it quickly became clear (and disappointing) that this was only going to work by manually programming everything--doable, but definitely not what I was expecting and made the product less valuable to me. Responses from the manufacturer on the forum seemed to indicate that an update would be forthcoming at some point in the future, but that was many months ago. There were reports of some workarounds, but nothing seemed to work for me.

Known Issue Freezes CHECK M-AUDIO FORUMS

Comments about M-Audio Axiom AIR 25 MIDI Controller:

First of all the encoders (knobs) are incremental. Meaning they will work nice asmixer fader channel controls or volume controls, but that is it. They have two sensitivities, slow (increments of ONE) or fast (snaps to 0 or 127). Useless. Also, There is no windows 8.1 drivers, you have to use the Win8 drivers and they dont work right. I have had two Axiom Air 25's. PLEAS READ THE M-AUDIO FORUMS BEFORE BUYING THIS THING, then, do yourself a favoer and buy a MPK25 or MPK49 and save yourself the headache.

Bottom line, It is a known issue that the AXIOM AIR's freeze and M-Audio hasnt done and will not do anything about it. Just go read their forum. PLEASE go read their forum. Then Never buy an M-Audio product.

Get the AKAI MPK25 or the MPK49. Do. Not. Buy. This.

        You have been warned.

Don't bother , the copy of ignite wont work, air the company that makes the software have not answered the phone since christmas day, i downloaded a free trial version and it comes with ilok license manager that slows my computer way down, this is not what it is supposed to be, but i dont really blame it on m-audio , i own several things made by them and its always the software that is the problem

Comments about M-Audio Axiom AIR 25 MIDI Controller:

I bought this to use as a midi trigger for Virtual Instruments in REAPER recording. It works great as a trigger, but I am also using it as control surface. It has a small footprint and can switch to higher or lower octaves at the touch of a switch. It is easy to assign the pads, faders and encoders.
The drum pads are a bit tricky to use as far as velocity control, so I tend to just use the ivories instead.
Great controller in general. Works great with REAPER.

I bought this keyboard to use when I can't sit at my normal keys and play. I'm disabled and always want to play, but it's not always an option. This little portable has nice keys, the knobs & stuff all immediately recognized by every app I use: Massive, Kontact, FL Studio, etc., the display is nice. Good controller for the price!

You won't go wrong with this keyboard. The keys have a nice feel to them and the controls and pads are infact very useful. Here's the best part for me, Ignite. Ignite lets you lay down ideas right out of the box. Well not right out of the box because you have to download it, but when you do you get a free addition to this control board that alone is worth the price of admission.

The keyboard doesn't come with a power supply. I thought this was a problem at first but when I realized it doesn't need one for it to work perfectly with a computer, I got a big smile on my face. After watching the videos and downloading the software, I was up and running. Creating songs is easy and the instruments are great.

Buy one, buy two, heck buy one for everyone.
