    Make your MIDI setup ultra-mobile!

The MidAir Receiver MIDI Interface is in an integral component to the M-Audio MidAir Wireless System. Bring your MIDI gear into the wireless age with the MidAir system. Comprised of a portable transmitter and receiver, the MidAir allows you to wirelessly transmit data from any device that outputs MIDI data—keyboards, drum machines, electronic drums and more. Just plug the battery-powered transmitter into the MIDI Out port on your controller of choice and connect the receiver to the MIDI In port on the device you'd like to control, and you're set. As a 2.4 GHz wireless device, the MidAir enables you to interface MIDI hardware at distances up to 30 feet with the same feel and response as a wired unit. The MidAir receiver includes a USB port and functions as a class-compliant 1 x 1 MIDI interface, so you can also wirelessly control soft synths from your favorite MIDI controller.

    Control It All
Designed for both studio and stage applications, the MidAir system makes it possible to control everything from keyboards and sound modules to multi-effects units and stage lighting rigs wirelessly. The system works with any with any devices that send and receive MIDI data. Onstage, you can turn your favorite keyboard or MIDI instrument into a wireless controller and control an entire rack of MIDI gear without cables. In the studio, the MidAir system is the perfect way to eliminate excess clutter and long cable runs.

    Front of House and Beyond
Have you ever wondered what your favorite keyboard patch sounds like in the audience? With the MidAir system, it's no problem to just pick up your MIDI controller with attached MidAir transmitter and check out your sounds from the floor. You can also control onstage effects from the FOH mix position or vice versa.

    Multiple Frequency Channels
Much like wireless phones, MidAir automatically switches channels to insure a clear and unique signal. This means that you can use multiple MidAir systems in the same stage or studio environment.

    Sync Your Stage
Tempo-based effects are among the most exciting things you can add to your guitar, bass or keyboard—and more and more guitar and bass effects are offering this functionality. But trying to sync multiple units has traditionally required running MIDI cables from a master keyboard or clock source to each player's effects unit—including trying to find cables long enough. With the MidAir, you can achieve the same functionality without those extra cables. Imagine the creative possibilities of being able to control the timing of your band's effects units from a single keyboard, MIDI instrument or computer. (Multiple MidAir systems and appropriate multi-port interface or splitter are required.)

    Features
    • 2.4GHz wireless MIDI system
    • 1 x 1 USB MIDI interface including standard MIDI In and Out jacks
    • Supports discrete operation of multiple MidAir systems in close proximity
    • Class-compliant with Windows XP and Mac OS X

    I could of been better.

Comments about M-Audio MidAir Wireless MIDI Transmitter and Receiver System:

This device works great if you play GM sounds also if your on stage or with 3 people that wont get infront of the unit while playing. But it doesn't cut out when people stand infront of it and your playing GM. If you need something just to be little free you minus well just get a long 25ft midi cable and call it a day.
I hooked this unit to a roland ax-7 to a Juno stage keyboard and Juno G. This unit will revert to midi GM if signal is drop or if someone gets between you and the unit or if you move out of range. If you were playing (GM) = General MIDI then this unit would work perfect for that purpose. When playing very fast the unit works great when standing next to it which defeats the purpose of being wireless you want to move a round and not stand next to it.
Nice design very sleet and smooth. Fixed perfect inside a small pouch.
Not worth the vaule but you get what you pay for. I would buy it used before buying it new.

    Not very good

    By David White

Comments about M-Audio MidAir Wireless MIDI Transmitter and Receiver System:

I bought this thing to hook up to my midi wind controller so I wouldn't be tethered to my midi gear, but it has two very big problems. 1. This thing eats batteries faster than any wireless device I've ever seen. I have a wireless audio transmitter for the EWI as well and I can get a good 10 hours from a full battery. The MidiAir only gets about 3 hours. May not seem like much but it gets expensive after a while. 2. The range is very poor. I've tried using it in many different settings all with the same result. Even with no obstructions between the transmitter and reciever you can't walk more than 5 feet away from it before you start to notice dropped notes. I was playing four feet away from the transmitter and someone stood in the middle and I got dropped notes. I should add a third point. After less than a year it stopped working altogether. Avoid this thing.

    Terrible.

    By Joshua-mh88i

Comments about M-Audio MidAir Wireless MIDI Transmitter and Receiver System:

This thing is a toy. I know, I went through two in 8 months. After about 3 months of very gentle, normal, nightly use, this thing stops functioning. Notes begin to get stuck or not sound at all. Pass on this one and spend the extra money on a better wireless transmitter if you plan on using it in a critical live situation.

    Drop Box

Comments about M-Audio MidAir Wireless MIDI Transmitter and Receiver System:

This unit is nicely built. Compact and easy to strap on you instrument with velcro.I have tried using it live at gigs wth an Akai Ewi 4000s and aparently this device is not capable of sending a large amount of midi data. Terrible problems with dropped notes stuck notes.I have had to swith to a cable. Very disapointing after getting a taste of wireless freedom. And kept it to long to return hoping it would work out.Might be o.k. with something other than a wind instrument as they send a lage amount of midi data.

    No 2 ways about it

    By punkin

Comments about M-Audio MidAir Wireless MIDI Transmitter and Receiver System:

This thing is a little spendy for what you get. The range isn't remarkable and, it only handles traffic in one direction. If you're needing something for say, a full-service controller and you need the in AND out signals, this thing is not for you.

    Not All That

    By punkin

    from Parker, CO

Comments about M-Audio MidAir Wireless MIDI Transmitter and Receiver System:

I purchased this a few weeks ago. Not what I was hoping for. I should have done my home work a little better. The device provides an input/output midi connection via usb only if you're wired up to it. If you go "wireless" you only get inbound from the controller to the computer. The wireless feature doesn't work in both direction. This won't work for something like a Mackie MCU or other control surface that needs both transmit and receive. The package is VERY light. You'll need velcro or something to keep it from sliding around. The range isn't so hot either. For 30 feet, I should have just bought extra long cables. It's not a bargain and not an impressive product.
