M-Audio's new SynchroScience product development group is all about providing DJs with the tools they need —as evidenced by the portable and powerful Conectiv interface. With two pairs of stereo inputs and outputs, easy USB connectivity and included Torq DJ software, Conectiv can turn any compatible Mac or PC into a powerful DJ rig. The two large knobs allow you to seamlessly mix between the incoming audio from a turntable or CD player with the output of a connected Mac or PC. Conectiv also includes standard DJ cueing capabilities, so you can listen to any track in your headphones before sending it out to the house system.
The included Torq DJ software is a dual-platform application that allows you to mix, beat-match and cue a variety of digital audio file formats, including MP3, AIFF, WAV, WMA and AAC. The first time you boot up the software, it automatically configures itself to work with Conectiv. Furthermore, the software itself can be controlled via mouse, keyboard, MIDI controller or control vinyl/CDs. And unlike traditional DJ set-ups where you're forced to carry around heavy crates of records or CDs, Torq organizes all of your digital files into a quickly searchable database on a compact, convenient hard disk—it can even interface directly with your iTunes library for truly effortless setup. And if that's not enough, Torq supports third-party VST effect plug-ins and includes both a dedicated 16-cell sampler and performance recorder.
For the DJ who chooses to work with vinyl or CDs, Conectiv can turn a laptop into the most versatile DJ effects unit ever conceived. i bought this product about a year ago i must say that this software is great you get alot for what you pay for.i use my technics sl 1200 with this its not that stable but i have a mac book pro i suggest you use on of those other than that this product is great good job m-audio

Lets be clear, if you have less than 2 gigs of RAM you may have problems. I have been running Torq on Windows for overs 2 yrs with no problems. I have gigged with Serato and Finalscratch, and hands Torq is the best. The features on this program are amazing and you have the ability to incorporate VST plugins. Bottom line if you don't take care of your Laptop THEN YOUR GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS OR ANY OTHER DJ SOFTWARE.

Had this for about 3 weeks now, after organizing my music and memorizing the hot keys, i have to say that its one of the best things you can buy! I've been dj'ing on and off for 13 years now and my beat mixing skills has gotten so much better in the last week! I mean, hearing the music is one thing... but seeing the wave file and knowing when the break is makes everything sound so much cleaner! I can sort by BPM and within a couple of seconds, have a song in cue. NO MORE wasting time finding the right song from pure memory... the BPM list is right there! its not 100% stable and not 100% intuitive but i'm dedicating a good 3-4 months on this and im going to master this....

I have read a lot of reviews where "DJs" complain about the stability of Torq. If you are going to gig with a system of this kind, your computer needs to be dedicated to this. I have two partitions on my system, one for normal use and one strictly for music applications. I disable most Windows services that will not be in use during my sessions and I have yet to experience a letdown. I even tried running Torq on an old Athlon I have in my studio and after tweaking Windows it runs flawlessly. The effects are great and I would recommend a midi drum pad or controller to get the full experience out of the software. My only gripe is that Connectiv is no audio interface like Audio 8, but for the price that's too much to ask.
