I have owned a M-Audio UNO for many years and use it to run midi programs through to a midi-sport 2x2 to my Digitech Vocalist VR, Roland D70, and Casio CTK-730. There is no noticeable delay with all that equipment being run off 1 midi file. I even has a Yamaha PSR433 plugged into the computer usb, paralleled the interfaces and still have minimal delay. GREAT UNIT for home recordings with no fuss. Unlike some cheap interfaces I used in the past, I have never lost my driver to where I had to reinstall it even if moving USB ports; It auto populates sequencers and vanbasco karaoke software on Windows 7 (Midi not assignable in Control Panel);

I have purchased this second UNO interface so I can play out with an another computer and interface without pulling a part my home recording studio or change my midi setting or tools. JUST A GREAT INTERFACE.

Please read M Audio's forum before you purchase this device. It seems like you are getting a screaming deal but it has some serious midi language problems and not just with one operating system or instrument. When I hooked it up to XP system and QS8 keyboard it sent midi messages back to my keyboard to change programs and modulation while I was playing. I took it to my brother's house and we tried it with his Roland VDrum and Vista setup. Same problem! It would change all kinds of things while he was playing but would not interface with the simplest of sequencing software. The M-Audio forum for this device tells the story. There are tons of people with the same problem and as of July 2008 no known fixes from M Audio. I was an M Audio fan but I am not so sure now.

Solid for the price

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

Bought this over a year ago. Connected it to a Alesis Micron, to use as a VST controller inside Ableton live. No problems, intuitive to use. Nothing groundbreaking here, but hey, its cheap, it works, and it seems realiable.

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

The Uno works perfectly with Windows 8.1
      No issues of any kind.

You do need to be aware:
normally it would have female connectors on the body of the unit. Then you would use midi cables to connect your keyboard. The Uno has cables with male connectors, which plug into your keyboard. This means you don't need cables, but you are restricted to the length of the Uno cables.

      Exellent.

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

I bought it at a pawn shop and it's exellent. It doesn't have any special features, but it gets its job done nicely. I needed something to connect to a synth to trigger loops to, and this thing delivers. I gave it a 4 on quality because of the plastic construction, but this little cable is exellent, especially for a budget-minded musician.

Works great for VST software synths

      By soundnut

      See all my reviews

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

I bought this to plug my old Korg DW8000 synthesizer into a notebook so I could use the thousands of freeware VST software synths in a live situation. My notebook is an old 1.2GHz Dell with 512MB RAM running Windows XP, so it's no speed demon. But it doesn't have to be. It works GREAT. Used with the freely downloadable AC?97ASIO sound driver, there's virtually no latency and it's rock solid. (You can also use the free ASIO4All driver if your soundcard supports it. Most do. Mine didn't.) There's not much for features, just 1 in & 1 out, but that's all I needed. The plastic construction may be a little cheesy, but it should hold up fine if it's not abused. If you have a MIDI keyboard and a spare notebook laying around, $40 opens up an incredible amount of sonic possibilities.

      Compatability issues...

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

I didn't realize upon purchase that this MIDI-USB interface is not compatable with Windows Vista. You can download a new driver off the M-Audio website for Vista, but it still will not work properly - my computer occassionaly picks up the signal, but the notes are jumbled and wildly inaccurate. Could be the keyboard, could be the drivers, could be the interface. Regardless - it doesn't work!

Great for recording from Digital Piano - User new to MIDI

      By Megan Hochstedler

      from Ohio

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

      a
I am a complete MIDI noob, and all I wanted to do was record a crisp, clean sound from my digital piano (Casio CDP-100) to play at my reception. I run Windows 7 on my computer. Aside from the fact that you need to go to their website to install Windows 7 drivers, using it was a cinch. It works great for going directly from keyboard to computer without a controller (whatever that is. Like I said, complete MIDI noob). After I got some software to process the signal, I was good to go!

The driver is out there some where, but it wasn't easy.

Comments about USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

The Uno came with a CD Rom for the driver install. I am using MAC OS 12.6 and the driver wouldn't install. I had to go to the web site and find the driver for my system but there wasn't one. I had to call Customer Support where they told me to download the driver for MAC OS 11. It worked but I had to spend about an hour to get there.

          M Audio Uno Midi Interface

          By Mike

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

Just feel I have to add some balance to lots of negative reviews on this product. I was in a bind and needed a cheap, quick way to send a midi file from a Roland TD-20 VDrum brain via email to an engineer for sound replacement work. THe unit set up quickly to an apple laptop and I was done recording and emailing in about 30 minutes w/ no problems whatsoever. Can't speak to reliability but the ease of set-up and initial quality were terrific!

          By Brian Groover

          from Frederick, MD

Comments about M-Audio USB Uno 1X1 MIDI Interface:

I have had no problems with this at all. It plugged into my Roland and into my laptop for use with Finale, and worked the first time, every time, with no effort. I leave it plugged into the piano, and move the laptop over and plug it in when I want to transcribe or play back. The plastic case could probably be more sturdy, but I haven't been lugging it around and dropping it, and it is still in perfect condition. I've used this for perhaps 100 hours of recording and playback over the past year.
