Old-school 100% analog signal path with modern USB/MIDI smarts.

The Moog Little Phatty Stage II is a keyboard synthesizer that puts you in control of a 100% analog signal path. Like the Stage and Tribute Edition before it, Little Phatty Stage II synth has 2 ultra-stable Voltage Controlled Oscillators, and a Voltage Controlled Filter. Other versatile features include an external audio input, CV and KB gate inputs, and a full MIDI controller. Additionally, the Stage II keyboard boasts great new features including; MIDI over USB, MIDI Clock Sync, an arpeggiator, Tap Tempo, and a stylish new black finish.

The addition of MIDI over USB makes this performance and sound sculpting tool even more powerful. Combined with its warm analog sound, ability to process external audio and its intuitive performance, sound design and control features, the Stage II makes a great addition to any rig—rom full-on analog, to a laptop/softsynth setup. You can also connect the Stage II directly to a computer running the Little Phatty Editor/Librarian.

MIDI Clock Sync allows you to synchronize the LFO and arpeggiator rate to the tempo of your MIDI sequencer, drum machine, or software. Sample and hold, triangle, square, sawtooth, and ramp wave modulations can now be perfectly timed with your rhythm tracks and the arpeggiator.

The arpeggiator is a great new performance feature with applications for musicians in all genres. Its wide variety of uses is sure to find a place in any style, and, of course it also syncs to MIDI clock. Tap Tempo brings LFO and arpeggiator tempo sync functionality to situations in which there is no MIDI clock.

The distinctive new black finish is a real eye-catcher that emphasizes the unique nature of the Little Phatty Stage II.

    Overrated, Overpriced, Feels Cheap

    By Eduardo Juarez

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer:

Cool but overrated synthesizer in my opinion, feels cheap but sounds great. There's way better offerings from Dave Smith Instruments for monophonic synthesizers and polyphony synthesizers. If you're looking for a mono synth at this price point I would look at the Dave Smith Mopho Keyboard, Mono Evolver Keyboard and Slim Phatty. If you must have a Moog then get the Voyager.
It's a monophonic synthesizer, standard features; I won't bother listing them because they're already listed in the product description.
The encoders/pots felt very cheap and the overall unit just has a cheapish toy feel to it. I really regret buying it because It doesn't seem like a gig-worthy piece of equipment if you like to rock out at your shows. Sound is great with Phat bass but over synths slay it at this price range. If I had to have a Moog at this price point, I'd look at getting the Slim Phatty instead and getting a more rugged midi controller.
For a monophonic synthesizer there are way better options in this price range. Dave Smith Instruments Mopho Keyboard which I own is only 800 bucks and slays this thing for phat bass. For around the same price as the Little Phatty you can get the the Dave Smith Mono Evolver keyboard which I also own and in my opinion the Mono Evolver is a way better deal in terms of overall number of different sounds you can create, i'm really a fan of crazy sounds on the Evolver delivers on that. For a couple hundred bucks more you can also get a Dave Smith Prophet 08 synth module that has polyphony and just kills the Little Phatty. I'd say if you're looking for the Moog sound get a Voyager, it blows the Little Phatty away, it's downright mind blowing to hear.

    I'm In Heaven

    By Kostya Grigori

    from Duluth, MN

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer:

Long story short, this is the greatest, most beautiful musical instrument I have ever owned, or even seen for that matter. All the features are stunning, put right in front of your face to tweak, and couldn't be any easier to use. The sounds that come out of this this are so warm and alive, it's like you're playing an "acoustic" synthesizer. True analog synthesis in a compact little machine, and the most heartwarmingly gorgeous tones you've ever heard, there is no need for me to ever drool over something I don't have ever again. I've got it all with this one machine. If you're at all on the fence about buying this- don't be. Don't even question this. It's a no brainer. Buy it.
