OVERVIEW

Two-tiered drawbar organ with the most popular classic organ simulations from its predecessor.

Complete with 2 sets of physical drawbars per manual, the Nord C2D is the ultimate portable organ for musicians that play with their drawbars as well as the keys. The new left-hand preset sections offer an unsurpassed level of hands-on control and the upper manual and panel has been tilted for better ergonomics. A LCD-display has been added for easier access to programs and settings.

The Nord C2D features a redesigned simulation of the characteristic mechanical key clicks that are an essential component of the classic tone-wheel experience. Furthermore, the redesigned percussion model offers increased control over the percussion levels when playing near-legato.

The Nord C2D also includes a redesigned Rotary Speaker simulation of a vintage 122 unit.

Naturally, the Nord C2D also includes both the Vox and Farfisa transistor organ simulations and the sampled Baroque Pipe Organ from the acclaimed Nord C2 Combo Organ.

Comments about Nord C2D Combo Organ:

I grew tired of moving my B3 and decided to look into clones. I purchased an XK3c system when it came out but always felt it was lacking something in the sound, in number of drawbars, and Leslie simulation. Fast forward a couple of years and Nord releases the C2D! Wow, the interface is laid out like my B3 and the sound is spot on. I have actually considered selling the B3! Before settling on the C2D I traveled to a music shopand tried out a Hammond SK2. I found the layout, sound, and build quality superior on the C2D. Plus, the SK2 is made in China!

Comments about Nord C2D Combo Organ:

Exactly what I was looking for. The C2D is like having a B3 and pipe organ that you can carry under one arm. The layout of the draw bars is set up very similar to the original B3. The sounds are incredibly realistic and will add a great deal of realism to my performances.

Comments about Nord C2D Combo Organ:

The tonewheel emulation sounds great and been reviewed amply and is wonderful. My primary interest in the C2D compared to similar clonewheel organs was the sampled pipe organ. It's great to have the facility to use the organ with the drawbars as a stop pulls and the C2D's pipe organ disposition, together with its couplers and presets enable a wide variety of very decent pipe organ sounds can be created. The flutes and principles are lovely and the addition of the vox celeste on the swell is great. While the two reed stops are not great on their own, in combination with either a flute or principle they sound fine. The pedal division is limited but strikes a balanced compromise. The mutation stops are adequate for the small size of the organ -- Personally, I would have loved a 1-3/5' stop for creating a solid Cornet but I'm probably in the minority there for Nord's key demographic.

Sending in stereo, he C2D won't compete with an expensive sampled pipe organ running from a high CPU computer sending over multi-channel sound system. Nord also made a compromise in how the polyphony works as more and more stops are applied (i.e., more stops pulled = less polyphonic capability). This is a simple function of the processing power needed to play multiple pipe organ samples. Enabling full polyphony on the pipe organ with all stops pulled would probably require more than twice the CPU of the electric organ emulations and this is a common practice in electric pipe organ programming. Chances are, unless you play some 10 finger Messiaen chords, and then add an extra 10 notes with your toes, and another with your nose, you won't even notice. It's a great little organ!
