This is basically the perfect midi controller keyboard. Everything works great on it, the build it solid (including the knobs), and it's insanely programmable. The stock drivers and software work great, too. It's automatically compatible with mac and xp systems, so you don't even need to install drivers in most cases. The touch pad is brilliant, and seems like it will last for years. No gripes there either. It's a solid controller, and right now a bargain priced one!The only, and I mean ONLY problem with this controller is that it only does 2 octaves. Is this a problem? Well, it depends on the type of music you play. If you're a real keyboardist, and you like to do complex sounds, and span all over the range of piano range, then this isn't for you.If you're a hiphop producer, or electronica, or even a rocker wanting some drums and synth, then this is perfect for you! You will not miss, or likely even need the extra octaves. 2 is good enough for you average person sketching out some sounds (and not using it to play complex piano parts.)So that's it, really. It's a better build than the Oxygen8, and Novation has built a decent reputation as a solid company. Most of their controllers and synths are pretty high end. It's also more portable than the M-audio Axiom, and I think the touch pad is more useful than the drum pads. If you want drum pads, buy a pad controller! This is better if you're more comfortable with piano keys. These keys have aftertouch too, and feel great to play. I would definitely say I would use them over any drum pad available right now.Recommended! :)
