Prior to receiving the KB 3 amp as a gift. I was playing my keyboards through a Fender solid state guitar amp. While the Fender amp alowed me to hear the keyboards, there was something missing. The first time I played my Yamaha S0-3 synth over the Peavey KB 3, I was in shock. There were so many new sounds coming out of the Peavey that the Fender didn't reveal. One major area was the bottom end, and how much this Peavey brought it out. I'm not knocking Fender, since their amp wasn't really made for keyboards. The Pevey is an amp made to bring out the different highs and lows of a keyboard, that cannot be obtained through a standard or bass guitar amp. In addition, I've had this amp for more than 5 years and never had a problem. The construction is top quality, and built to last a long time. The 4 channels with 1/4" jack inputs is frosting on the cake. When you consiser the cost, and quality, you can't go wrong in pulling the trigger on one of these.

ok sound at low volume...pretty solid build (some vibration) heavy for the small return in sound (volume)....
decent features,..xlr mic imput,...3 channels...no effects ,some reverb for the mic would be cool...
for as heavy as it is i expected a little more ....seems to be built pretty solid but the one i purchased could not handle much more than bedroom volume befor it started breaking up and vibrating...this amp could probably not even cut it in a small bar gig ....good keyboard amps at a decent price are hard to find..this is an over weight practice amp at best...who knows ..maybe i just got a stinker!! just wanted to give an honest review of the item I purchased...

Good value, Sounds pretty good with keyboard

By G-lenn

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

As I mentioned above, I also have a Roland KC60 and for my purposes (practice and as a monitor at gigs) with a keyboard and ukulele plugged in, I'd say the KC60 is a better choice. If I do solo gigging, I can use the Peavey with a monitor (which it powers) so that's pretty nice, but the quality isn't as good. At this price, I'd still consider this a pretty good deal for what you're getting but if you don't really need the power that this provides, and the monitor output, consider the KC60. If you're very picky about sound quality, I'd suggest saving up more and getting something else.
Several inputs and the ability to power an external monitor is great. I do wish that it had reverb built into it which would make it good for using as a PA at gigs.
Like most Peavey stuff, it's solid. That's comes at the cost of being pretty heavy and bulky. It's fairly loud, but not as much as I expected given the amount of power. The sound quality is OK, but not great. Wurlitzer and organ sounds are good, but higher pitched piano isn't so nice. If you need the power and this is your price range, this is a good option, but I wouldn't discount the smaller, higher quality (of sound) amps.
For the power and number of inputs, this is a pretty inexpensive amp. It's built solid and sounds pretty good as a keyboard amp. The higher pitch sounds are somewhat tinny sounding.

Worth the money

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

I have always heard you get what you pay for. I have been playing for 25 years. As most pros on the road you hardly see a keyboard amp being used at all. I prefer not to use them when I am out on the road because I use my ear monitors. However, playing local gigs I will use a keyboard amp. This is amp does well and had a great price on it. To get the best results I find it necessary to buy an external amp stand to be able to tilt the amp back and raise it off the floor some to be able to hear the quality you deserve. What most keyboards players don't realize is you lose the high end when the amp is setting on the floor in an upright position. So they tend to crank the amp in high volumes which can cause any amp to distort at times. So over all this is a great amp for small gigs. I had the KB4, but was too big to move around.

Good but too heavy

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

I have own this amp and it worked really good at reproducing the sound of my Roland V-drum Kit. Pros:Awesome bass sound, output to add a passive speaker, independent volume for headphone jack, balance line out, solid construction.Cons:Too heavy, line inputs only has high and low EQ, the output doesn't seem like 60 watts, no effects. My guitarrist 15 watt Marshall sound more powerful than this amp. I sold it and got a Behringer k450fx and with only 45 watts, it sounds way much better than this. You should use the KB3 with the external speaker if you care about your sound.

Close to Perfect

By MaGagne

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

Overall this little amp is hard to beat! I've been using this amp for a year with my yamaha dtx4 e-drums. Great highs, lows, does not distort even at high volumes. I've had many e-drumsets, and many monitor/small avinue amps and never heard any better ambient/realsounding e-drums.....ever. works great w/vocals, Many of my Friends have played their acc. guitars through it and were more than impressed. It is light to carry also! here goes.... The only thing I wish it had was phantom power for mics. Oh well it's very close to Perfect

Great versatile little amp

By www.BigBandBeat.com

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

I got sick of lugging around the bigger kb4 (another great amp, now serving for rehearsals) for our piano player and am very happy with the kb3. We have used it as a vocal monitor with wonderful results and have used it in small rooms with a microphone plugged directly into it. We play big band jazz and are not as loud as a lot of rock groups (still pretty loud), so this works well. I put some side handles and good sized wheels on it myself, which helps lifting it in and out of the truck and rolling it on the floor. I plan on buying another one to serve as a vocal monitor and put some side mounted tilts on it.

Not Adequate

By mrdantownsend

from Manasquan, NJ

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

I've played piano for 11 years but only recently started playing in a band. I bought this thinking that it would be a great amp for the money, seeing that it was 80W and weighed so much. Initially I was quite happy with it, but when I plugged both vocals and piano into it at the same time it gets really buzzy and distortion-y once it's turned past about 50% of its volume. With piano alone it takes about 65% volume to get a really poor sounding distortion. This amp is not good for gigs, and barely adequate for practice. It's kind of embarassing when your guitar player's 15 watt practice amp is louder than a 60W amp. Overall I wouldn't reccommend this to anyone, because if you're serious enough to need a serious amp you're better off getting a roland or behringer rather than this, and if you're a casual keyboard player you wouldn't want to lug this around because it is amazingly bulky and awkward. Not impressed and I plan on selling it.

Decent for small places and personal monitor

By Nutzo

from SC

Comments about Peavey KB 3 Keyboard Amp:

This speaker had a great sound initially in the store and at the house, but when playing in actual gigs and concerts, i noticed that the pianos are muffled, doesn't have a nice bright sound. Sort of muddy. Also when u have to get loud, a lil distortion does occur, so if using this as your main sound, either go to a bigger size or try something else.
