So far I've been very happy with this after about 7 months. I primarily bought it to use with my old POD 2.0 and Tech 21 guitar amp modelers at home. I wasn't looking for high volume - although it can get loud enough to tick off the neighbors for sure - but I wouldn't use it for a full band rehearsal. I was never happy running the modelers through a normal guitar amp, the cabinet modeling doesn't work well with the limited frequency response of a guitar amp speaker. This Cube monitor is a full range speaker, and I can say my modelers sound the best I've ever heard them. Super easy to hook up a CD player or MP3 player and play along to backing tracks. Small size doesn't clutter up the room if you have limited space. I'm thinking of getting another one to hook up in stereo. I can also use it as a monitor when recording tracks onto my computer. If you use guitar amp modelers and want something to amplify them faithfully without coloring your sound, at quiet to moderately loud volumes, and want to minimize gear space, this is a great choice.
For a small amp/monitor it's got about every kind of input I can think of, plus headphone capability. 30 watts is louder than I thought it would be when it's turned up. Surprising amount of bass reproduction for such a small speaker.
Seems very solidly built. Front speaker mesh is metal, built in handle is very sturdy. Controls have a good feel to them, input jacks seem pretty good. It's fairly heavy for the size. I wouldn't want to drop it because I wouldn't really want to drop anything, but it feels like a high quality piece of gear. I think it sounds great. We've used it as a PA for a birthday party in a decent sized hall playing music (not enough to blow the roof off but plenty loud enough for the kids to have a good time. It's a birthday party, not a nightclub!). I use it playing guitar through my POD and Tech 21 amp modelers (more on this below).
For what it is I don't know what else I would want from it. I bought mine used so saved some money there, but I think the price is fair. It's solidly built and sounds very good, with a good feature set. Maybe if it had onboard reverb, but not a big deal.

I was interested in buying this until I played and sang through it. The features for a small product such as this are very good and it felt like a Roland in your hand - sturdy but light. It IS a quality item. It actually sounded stellar with an acoustic electric guitar. For practice, small gigs and such it is NOT adequate for vocals. The sound was good but it was easier to just sing louder - my voice was louder than my voice through it as a pa. It also clips considerably at high volume. I wanted to like it, but feel it is underpowered, overpriced and not loud enough for even coffee shop applications. Ok for guitar but practically useless for live vocals.

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
I'm a one girl band and the Roland CM-30 was just the ticket for me in my smaller venues..I use it as a pa and with a 4 ch mixer, my guitar/vocals/mini disc background tracks come thru beautifully and no one can believe that ALL that sound is coming thru something so small. One night my Bose L1 system wouldn't function and I had no choice but to grab the CM-30 from the van...There I was in a room of 80 people dancing and having a great time, and no one even noticed that I was performing thru the 30-watt cube. I was so impressed that I have since bought a 2nd cube and now use the two as my main set up, only using the Bose in rooms of 200 or more. I have also purchased a small powered subwoofer and when I try it out with the cubes, I'm hoping I will never have to cart around a heavier system..CANNOT say ENOUGH wonderful things about the Roland CM-30...Best musical purchase I've ever made!!! I am in FL and play for retirement golf communities. I play out 4-5 times a week, and some times do 3 gigs in one day...WHAT a difference this has made on my back. Thank You ROLAND!!!

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
I got this to use as a multi-instrument practice amp and it really fills the bill. I have used this, at different times, with bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, and vocals. The low end will start to fuzz a little when playing low bass notes with a compressor, but then there's really little need to add in a compressor for practice purposes.
A very good value for what it is, a monitor or a practice amp. I could see it serving the purpose in a coffee house situation, but without as much headroom as I would generally want.

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
First off if you want loud buy a big PA system.
I have used this with acoustic guitar and vocal mic at small dinner gigs and acoustic jams at fairly loud partys. It will not blow the room away admit. But it puts you above acoustic levels crystal clean and clear. I use a little Behringer mixer that has effects if I want effects. The 4 channel one fits on the top of the 30 nicely like it was made for it. But mostly for simplicity for dinner gigs I have just used it dry. There is nothing wrong with singing through it. I used it as a monitor in front of my larger PA once when I did sound for an open mic. I sat it on the floor and tilted it back in front of the main mic. Worked just fine. Some players said the monitor was a little too hot. I have had every roland battery amp and others. They are all gone. This one is a keeper for the money.
Pros
- Easy to Use
- Portable
- Small footprint
- Sounds surprisingly full
Cons
- Not made to tilt

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
I initially got this for a keyboard monitor. I liked the fact that it has multiple channels with volume controls for each. I hooked up my keys and drum machine, expecting it to distort on the low registers but....WHOA!!
How does it sound so full with speakers so small!?
I then realized that it could be used as a stage monitor, and recognized its usefulness in a small stage setting. Got a second unit, and the band's totally stoked that we don't have to lug around cumbersome and heavy floor monitors around any more!

Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
We've had this now for a little more than 2 weeks. Used it as the single main speaker (with no monitor) for a worship service at a nursing home. Hooked to it a Peavey mixer; and to the mixer we connected a guitar and two Shure Beta microphones. The room was like two average-sized living rooms put together. Using sound equipment helps some residents hear better--and the guitar sounds better when amplified. The Cube was set at 75-80% of full volume; the mixer was set far below maximums. The supervising staff member said it was the best sound combination we've had (she's been with us for a couple of years and heard us with our Kustom 12-inch monitor (hooked to our mixer), an old Rouge Roller PA and a Peavey Messenger system). I agree with her assessment. When leading the singing, my wife and I could hear ourselves from behind the single Cube monitor when used as the main speaker. Without changing any settings, the voice quality for speaking was top notch as well. We may buy one or two more cubes for use in small to mid-sized rooms--two chained together for true stereo mains and the third as a monitor. The Cube is a good guitar amp in small to mid-sized rooms. Easy portability. More than I expected for 30 watts, especially when compared to our Kustom monitor, which is 100 watt rms.
I like having three instrument/mike channels and also the stereo/mono capability. Also like the fact that headphone and speaker volumes are independently controlled (each can be heard with or without the other). If controls were on the side, rather than on front or back, the Cube would be more convenient when usage is sometimes as monitor, sometimes as main. Thus far, no issues because the power cord has no ground wire; nevertheless, adding a ground would seem to have minimal effect on price and would perhaps provide added protection.
Seems well-constructed. At first, I thought there was minor noise in channel but then discovered that TRS 1/4 inch jacks should be used instead of 1/4 inch mono jacks, which are OK for channels 2 and 3.
Seems to be a good value
Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
I felt it was a bit expensive.
For a small box this monitor is Great. It has good sound and a lot of power. We use it in a small band and for us it's fantastic for small gigs.
Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
I really like this little amp. I have to crank this amp to 75% to 80% of volume to get it to sound loud enough to work0 as a little PA. I play guitar, and sing. I use a guitar pedal to get my nice sound, and a TC Helicon "Create" pedal for vocals. The sound is nice and warm, full and correct. So, I have this little tiny amp/PA that makes my overall footprint small and light and flexible. It is a very sturdy little amp. Excellent purchase as far as I am concerned. But, it is really only great because it sends a clean signal that can be colored by all the wonderful pedals that are available. Other folks who want to carry small items and not break the bank or the back, take heed.
Comments about Roland CM-30 Cube Monitor:
This is a great little moniter. Don't let it's size deceive you!The only thing thats wrong with it is when you have a guitar and mic plugged in at the same time you get some feedback but other than that I would recommend it to anyone!
