Comments about Roland DP-90S Supernatural Piano:
I bought this online without trying it out first, and thought that by buying a piano that cost this much that there's no way I could possibly not like it. Well, I don't.
The sound is reasonably realistic if you put your ear up to it. But somehow, the speaker's orientation below the keyboard makes it sound like just another electronic keyboard and not a high-end digital piano.
Furthermore, I feel that notes decay way faster than real pianos do. There are certain pieces I play that expect a note to hold for a long time, and when the sound decays it just doesn't hold a candle to the way a real piano performs.
Also, some functions are not intuitive. I am very tech savvy. When dealing with a new piece of electronics, I expect to be able to do most common activities without a manual. Deleting a song that you've recorded requires pressing a minimum of 23 buttons, not one of which is a delete button (it starts off by pressing the "Song", "Key Touch", and "Transpose" buttons simultaneously -- good luck figuring that out without a manual!).
I do like that the piano is aesthetically pleasing and folds up very nicely. I also like the action better than on my real piano. And it does have an excellent lower range. In fact, the ends of the piano sound quite realistic; it's that middle portion, or the portion that gets most usage, that I find mediocre.
I checked a box in this review saying that it's good for concerts because if you're a professional stage performer, it's nice that the speaker can be mounted facing the back of the piano. However, I must add that this piano is extremely heavy. The box it came in weighed about 120 pounds. If you plan to bring a piano on the road constantly, this may not be the piano for you. If this is a piano with a permanent home in an auditorium, that may be more realistic.
At the end of the day, though, given the lackluster sound, the difficulty of use, and the poor decay, I can't possibly recommend this piano to anyone. I wish I hadn't bought this thing.
