The Roland Fantom-X8 88-Key Sampling Workstation gives you 88 full-sized keys with Progressive Hammer Action, 128 voices and seamless integration of audio and MIDI. Then there are the beautiful new ROM waves and sampling plus realtime time-stretch capability. 128MB wave ROM includes 88 key split piano and more. 32MB sample RAM expandable to 544MB with optional DIMMs. Innovations such as color LCD screen, skip back sampling that retrieves what you just played as a sample, dynamic pad bank with 16 velocity-sensitive pads and aftertouch, as well as V-LINK for triggering and manipulating video clips. 3 MFX processors plus dedicated reverb, chorus, and mastering processor. I did a TON of research before choosing the X8. I went to tons of different stores and researched many different keyboards and price ranges. My max was about 1500 and I was looking at the Juno-Stage, the Korg TR (all sizes), Just other various Korg models and some yamaha models. I went to musicians friend in our area and tried out all the ones I was looking at but after looking at all of them I really didnt like any of them. One of the guys suggested to try out an X8 and I had done some looking and it was out of my price range but they brought it out and I fell in love. This keyboard is amazing. The sounds are gorgeous and it just looks sweet. You will not be sorry after purchasing this machine but with the new G series debuting I can only imagine how awesome those are.
I bought this keyboard a few months ago and I love it. I'm am the head of the liturgical band at my high school in Louisiana and use this for masses and other functions. I also use it for church productions that I lead. It has a great sound and wonderful features. It is a little pricy, but I think it is well worth the money.
I purchased this board in August of this year and it's worth every penny. The user interface on the board is extremely easy to use and lovely to view. I read the manual for only 2-3 days and master every feature. The pianos and drums are off the chain. The sequencer and 8 tracks of audio are sweet as pie! The fantom x8 keys have a real genuine weighted feel and they are a must have for piano players who are looking for just the right touch. I like the board so much that I'm thinking a buy a fantom x6 to take on the road because of its portable size!
i bought this keyboard a year ago and it is the best keyboard i have ever played in any of the instrument stores. this keyboard's sound is amazing the piano mode is so cool you can open and close the lid on the piano. best keyboard ever.
It's a good machine. I've owned several brands of keyboard including yamaha, casio, and roland. I'd have to say out of all of those instruments this one is definitely my favorite. It's a little heavy for gigging but it's great in a home studio enviroment. I'd also definitely have to say it's easier to learn to use than the motif.
This is the most complex instrument I ever had. All my previous intruments was Yamaha, and I tried to switch to Roland, and is very dissapointed. It seems that you need to be some sort of a rocket scientist to be able to get the best out of the arpeggiator. On the previous instruments I always used the auto accompaniment rhythms, which is not featured on this workstation. This might be the ideal insturment for programmers/sequencers, but definately not for me
this workstation is incredible it cant get much better than this...it has everything you need and is very very easy to use. best piece of equipment ive ever seen.
I've been a guitar player for 25 years and have wanted an acoustic piano for nearly that long. After buying the Yamaha YPG-625 and taking it home to discover it was making a bad (unfixable) interference noise, I returned it and shopped around a bit more. It was a blessing in disguise because after hearing a guy laying down some very cool R&B/Hip-hop tracks on a Fantom X8 I was blown-away. This thing has pretty much everything you need to record midi-based music, and so much more. You probably know that already. As far as the patches it ships with, well, I'm very picky about "fake instrument sounds" and the Fantom X8 does not disappoint! The piano sounds are top rate, pro quality and editable. The keys have perfect Grand Piano hammer action. The rest of the sounds are incredibly sweet, too. If you want the best keyboard you can get, you'll have a hard time finding anything better than this one. Hands down (on the keys)!
This is the ultimate music making keyboard around. Unlike what others say this keyboard is very easy to use in comparison to triton and motif. Just like any other complex computer it takes some time and reading the manual to use its full potential but it is worth it. The Electric piano, rhodes and wurlitzer sounds are amazing! I own a rhodes and a wurlitzer and when it comes to getting a clean digital transmission I go with the fantom. I exclusively use the S/PDIF out and the USB to control the timecode of my DAW. It is very easy to track out the fantom to your daw. My only one complaint is the lack of an external word clock in.
This keyboard is the best keyboard i have ever had. It is so easy to use once you learn how to use it. Also i love the sounds on it. It has the best piano sound out of any keyboard
