The right fit for any piano player.

Answers the need for a lightweight and compact digital piano while keeping the feel of a fine concert grand. This affordable instrument comes with an 88-note Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard, superb piano and instrument sounds and a refined new look with onboard speakers. A new Sound Control function gives players deeper, richer piano tones, while the onboard Session Partner provides easy auto-accompaniment. Great looks and even better performance.

Lightweight Cabinet with Speakers

With space more and more at a premium, the FP-2 arrives as the perfect way to put a grand piano in your home. This stylish digital piano's lightweight design makes it easy to move, while its compact body fits almost anywhere. And with high-quality speakers built in, you can enjoy lively performances with all the excitement of an acoustic grand.

Newly Designed Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard

Thanks to some clever engineering, Roland was able to put an 88-note Progressive Hammer-Action Keyboard into the FP-2's compact body. These full-sized keys feature a dynamic touch weight variation--with a heavier touch in the lower range and lighter touch in the upper range--giving players a truly authentic feel. From delicate pianissimo to vibrant forte, the FP-2 delivers.

Sound Control with 4-Band EQ

The FP-2 is Roland's first digital piano with Sound Control, an easy-to-use feature that can instantly enhance the lower register of the piano sounds for deeper, richer tone. A 4-band digital equalizer is also available, making it possible to precisely tailor the onboard piano sounds to your liking--use the upper frequencies to "brighten" your sound, or add more warmth with the lower frequencies.

Play Along with the Session Partner

Roland's Session Partner has become very popular, thanks to its ability to create instant auto-accompaniment in a variety of musical styles. The FP-2's Session Partner has 80 rhythm and accompaniment patterns--including ballads, jazz, Latin and 12 new styles. Players can choose to play along with a full accompaniment including chords, bass and drums and even create their own chord progressions. It's easy and fun!

Easy Connection to Computers

With USB standard, you can connect the FP-2 to a computer and use it as a sound source for sequencing or as a high-quality controller. The FP-2 is also GM2-compliant, making it easy to use with Standard MIDI Files. So whether you want to write music on your computer or just sit down and play, the FP-2 is a great way to do it.

The FP-2 is also available with a stand.

Compact, lightweight digital piano with stylish black and silver design
88-note progressive hammer-action keyboard for dynamic playing
64-voice sound engine with expressive new pianos, bass and harpsichord
Sound Control function with 4-band equalizer for creating richer sounds
Session Partner provides backing accompaniment in 80 musical styles
Onboard USB-MIDI interface; GM2-compliant

Unreliable right out of the box

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Very dissappointed in Roland overall. Key wouldn't work right out of the box. Makes me wonder if any digital piano is reliable. I certainly didn't get what I paid for and promptly returned for a refund. I'm certainly not impressed with roland's warranty. I played my Yamaha for 10 years with no problems. I guess I should stick with Yamaha.

Great keyboard

By C. Covington

I bought the FP-2 because I needed a 'basic' piano sound with weighted keys ..but got much more! It is super stage friendly.. very easy to change settings on the fly and you can tell at a glance in a dark setting exactly what is going on. My only complaint is that the damper pedal cable isn't long enough to reach the floor from the FP-2's home on top of my Hammond. I highly recommend this keyboard for great piano sounds and feel -- plus the hundreds of other great Roland tones.

Can't do better for the price

By Cliff-axWSj

from Clearwater FL.

I bought this piano mainly for the weight. 32 pounds. The piano samples are very good, the organ kind of sucks (I bought a Roland VK-8 to remedy that), and the voices are kind of cool. I'm 54 and have been in bands since 14, and the price, weight, and sound of this keyboard are the best in all my years. I've had B3s galore, C3s too, Yamaha Electric Grands, Fender Rhodes, Yamaha DX7s, Wurlitzer Elec. pianos, and many more. I can't carry that heavy crap any more! My amp is a Motion Sound KM-12 (about 20 pounds) and I have a JBL PA (EON 10s) and a Mackie Onyx mixer with firewire. I can load all of this stuff in my 95 Jag droptop. I live in FL. It's 70 degrees on Feb. 6, and I don't think it gets any better than this.

The perfect instrument, hands down.

If you want to spend a fortune on great sound get a Steinway. If you want a great concert grand feel and sound without the hefty price tag get a Roland FP-2. There is no comparison.

does what it should

I'm not sure about everybody elses complaints about piano sounds, but for the price and what you're getting, the piano sounds are fine. It's a simple, solid isntrument. Took it on a tour and i've hit this thing hard and it works just fine.. One thing that probably won't affect anybody here, but i feel like the touch has worn out over time. I've played it alot, and hit it hard, and i think the touch has worn down or something over all this use.Works well, onboard speakers work well, touch is awesome (feels great for a keyboard, only thing better i've played are the brand new Kawai digital pianos). Light weight, the "Sound Control" and "Equalizer" options are great for adding... something {i don't know what they do, but they make the piano sound better}, to the sound.

Out of all the Digi-Pianos I have played with this one has the best tone and feel of them all. I have a cheaper Roland Piano but plan on buying this one as soon as I get enough dough.

I purchased the roland fp2 last week and Im impressed with everything except the piano sounds. They sound to tinny and bright. Now I have to purchase a sound module for that. I guess thats why roland did not put them onboard in the first place. pianomike.
