OVERVIEW

The sound and control of a Juno 106 in a low-profile module.

The limited edition JU-06 Boutique is an authentic recreation of the iconic Juno 106 synthesizer. Sometimes described as one of the last great synths of the analog era, the Juno-106 became a favorite thanks to its warm sounds and instant sound-shaping ability. The controls were right on top of the unit, giving many users their first exposure to real-time manipulation of synthesizer parameters. It was easy to use, sounded fantastic and its chassis was brightly colored and distinctive: in a word, fun. You can even slide the JU-06 Boutique into the optional K-25m keyboard unit for a self-contained, go-anywhere synth experience.

The new 4-voice JU-06 Boutique module continues this hands-on association that the Juno 106 established long ago, with 23 parameters controllable via the front panel and that classic Juno sound – complete with the much-loved Juno chorus effect. There are some new additions too, including a faster LFO and continuously variable hi-pass filter (HPF). Everything the Juno 106 had and more is packed into this slim and elegant design.

*NOTE: The JU-06 Boutique is pictured above with the optional K-25m keyboard unit, which must be purchased separately if you want to use the JU-06 Boutique as a self-contained syntheszier. Please see #J26980 to purchase this add-on.

Comments about Roland JU-06 Sound Module:

What a great idea: Re-Create the Juno 106 in a small format voice module.
Unfortunately, the execution doesn't match the idea.
    What's Good:
Sound quality is very close to original.
Build quality is solid, with good controls.
    What's Not so Good:
1/8" stereo audio output (really? that's just amateur)
No dedicated "save" or "store" buttons.
    Preset sounds are bland.
    Sequencer programming is awkward.
    What's a BIG MISTAKE:
The USB digital output is 44.1kz, which is Not Compatible with the AIRA series modules.
This means you cannot record into DAW through USB in sync. with things like TB-3 or TR-8.
Really? They didn't make it compatible with their own equipment? What were they thinking?

Comments about Roland JU-06 Sound Module:

I own an original juno 106 that has been having some issues. Wanted a replacement that is easy to gig with and easy to move around. Connected to a 61 key midi and it all is still easier than hauling around the heavy , old juno. And sounds amazing.

Comments about Roland JU-06 Sound Module:

I also bought the Roland keyboard and hooked it right up. This is compact enough that I can sit in my chair and put on some ear buds and just jam away. I have only had it a couple of weeks, but so far I am pretty happy with it. Still learning how each button, or slider effects each sound. Tons of sounds that can be modified. I will be using it in my recording studio.
