OVERVIEW

Studio wizardry in a box.

The Roland MV-8000 Production Studio puts the ideal suite of tools for groove-making, sampling, and CD-burning in an elegant, integrated package. Sample your own sounds or import Roland, Akai, ACID and WAV libraries, then arrange it all using 16 touch-sensitive pads and Roland's most powerful audio/MIDI sequencer. With professional COSM effects, mastering tools, CD-RW drive, and USB port, you've got the ultimate studio for today's producers. Quickly turn raw samples into songs. Up to 101 minutes of sampling and compatibility with a wide range of audio formats.

Record up to 128 MIDI and 8 audio tracks, apply effects, and burn CDs. Loads sample libraries ranging from Roland and Akai to WAV and ACID formats, all with just a few simple commands. Then it's just a matter of tapping in some beats, arranging the song, and adding effects before burning it all to an audio CD.

136 tracks of sequencing.

The sequencer section boasts total integration of audio and MIDI and up to 136 tracks of recording. These include 128 MIDI tracks (with 32-channel operation) and 8 stereo audio tracks (16 mono) that can be used like a linear recorder. You can program beats on the MIDI tracks and combine them with freestyle vocals or acoustic instruments on the audio tracks, with the ability to 'punch in' at any time.

Sync audio to the sequencer's BPM

16 large drum pads let you program beats and trigger audio phrases. The pads are both velocity- and aftertouch-sensitive for maximum expression, and when combined with the large, graphic LCD and realtime control knobs, make sequencing more natural and spontaneous.

Compatible with some of the biggest formats around, you can import Akai MPC disks via the built-in floppy drive. Users can also load Roland
S-700 Series libraries and WAV/AIFF discs from CD-ROM or via USB transfer, and rip audio directly from CD. It can also load ACID files and automatically calculate the bars and BPM, making it easier to work with loops. User sampling is also provided complete with phono inputs for sampling records.

4 dedicated effects processors

They include 24-bit Reverb, separate Chorus/Delay, and a versatile MFX (multi-effects) processor with COSM effects made famous in Roland's V-Studios. These include algorithms like guitar amp modeling, microphone and speaker modeling, plus unique tools like Lo-Fi and Slicer. A Mastering Tool Kit offers everything needed to sweeten up mixes before going to CD.

Massive 40GB Hard Drive

While audio and samples are played back using the onboard sample RAM, the MV-8000 can store its sounds and projects to an internal 40GB hard disk. This makes it easy to manage large sound libraries once they have been converted to MV-8000 format. It's also a great way to load sequences quickly during performance. When connected via USB, the hard drive can be accessed directly from a computer's desktop.

Options Galore

By purchasing the optional MV8-OP1 expansion card, users gain 6 additional analog outputs, a digital input, plus an R-BUS port that can be used to transfer up to 8 channels of digital audio to R-BUS equipped V-Studios or to ADAT-compatible devices using the optional DIF-AT Interface Box. And with Roland's V-LINK technology inside, the MV-8000 can be used to trigger and manipulate video clips when used with optional video equipment from Edirol. So when it comes to sampling studios, don't settle for second best. Get the Roland MV-8000.

MPC Killer

By Josh-7qPEL

from ATX, The Live Music Capitol of the World

This thing is the MPC killer. I have owned one for only a month, but I must say I am very impressed. I recently updated my hard drive to 120gb for only $50. I have upload sounds off the Internet even into this machine. It does it all. Pitch change, cd burning, automation, VGA and mouse, you can even record music with it. wow what a value. You could run a whole recording studio off of this one machine. The sounds are very nice and built in which is in credible and great support from the company. All you have to do for a new update is just hook it up to your computer through USB. This also works great with reason. It is the biggest bang for the buck. The Roland MV-8000, the MPC killer!!!

Best that money can buy

By Shawnb

from Buffalo, NY

No complaints with pricing or features. Could have more effects presets though (ala VS recorders). Also, recently experiencing a lot of problems with "F5" button. Has been broken twice now in last 3 weeks. Better get the VGA/Mouse option board if you intend on heavy usage.

Excellent.

By Black Lotus

From just looking at the features this machine has, I'm definitely going to upgrade from the MPC2KXL. I can do everything I do on the MPC plus more. Hard Drive, CD Burner, & disk? Excellent.

U Can't Lose

By RichPolitic

from Chicago

This is a must have piece for all producers who want to master their art. My only beef with this machine is the loading time, and it has limited midi i/o's. But overall this is a beast. I was an MPC user then i tried this thing out, and I transferred all my sounds from my mpc to this. Now my MPC 2000xl looks helpless in the corner of the studio.

In Mourning of the M......

You would have to be a fool to not see the value in this machine. This machine is incredible and takes you thru evey single step right down to finished copy without all the crashing and lost tracks and so on and so forth. I was an avid MPC user, but that ended the day I purchased this machine. Good job Roland. Buy one, you wont be sorry.

#1 beat machine period.

By VIIX

from Dallas,TX

This machine has everything you need to make the hottest tracks, Roland has really made something that dominates the market. You can record into it, create samples and store them, mix and master your work. The sequencer is very easy to work with and you must have the new 3.5 version with your monitor/mouse to really enjoy it. I hope you have your own sounds because this doesn't come with many. It also has a new drum grid better than Fruity Loops and an analog bass synth. If you're making beats, this is what you get!

I have had this unit since its release. This machine is a very unique piece. I can plug a mic load a sample, record vocals, add effects, mix and master songs, and burn to a disc with this one unit. Wonderful.

I have owned this machine for 3 years and I fall in love with it every time I use it. I use it in the studio and I use it for live shows. When you get finished using this machine your music will be radio ready.
