OVERVIEW

Flagship features at a nice price.

Roland raised the stage-piano bar with the RD-700NX. Today, the world-famous SuperNATURAL sound and expression of the flagship RD is available at a lighter weight and more affordable price¦introducing the RD-300NX. This state-of-the-art stage piano boasts an advanced SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine, E. Piano sounds based on SuperNATURAL technology, a newly developed Ivory Feel-G keyboard with Escapement, a unique Sound Focus feature, and more.

SuperNATURAL Sound
The RD-300NX's acoustic-piano sounds are derived from Roland's acclaimed SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine. With SuperNATURAL Piano technology, three essential elements are dramatically improved - velocity response, note decay, and key-range behavior - resulting in smooth, natural sound and response. For EP lovers, the RD-300NX contains an E. Piano based on SuperNATURAL technology that meticulously models classic vintage EPs.

New Ivory Feel-G Keyboard
The newly developed Ivory Feel-G keyboard incorporates Roland's most advanced sensor, escapement mechanism, and Ivory Feel features. The keyboard provides the superior touch and sensitivity of Roland's flagship keyboards, in a compact and lightweight design¦a great benefit for gigging musicians who want to travel light.

Unique Sound Focus
The innovative Sound Focus feature ensures that every note will be heard, even subtle pianissimo passages. Based on SuperNATURAL phase-correction technology, this essential feature ensures that the RD-300NX won't get lost in the mix, penetrating through walls of sound without compressing or coloring the tone. Players can relax and play naturally, achieving presence onstage without sacrificing dynamics and sound quality.

Bonus Features
The popular One Touch Piano concept from previous RD-series pianos has been carried over the RD-300NX as well. The handy feature provides instant access to essential piano and E. Piano sounds and setups with dedicated one-touch buttons. In addition, the popular and powerful Piano Designer feature has been included in the RD-300NX feature set, letting you build custom pianos quickly and easily on the graphic LCD. And finally, for keyboardists who desire a true grand-piano pedaling experience onstage, an optional RPU-3 triple-pedal unit can be added.

I Like It A Lot

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

I perform mostly on baby grand pianos but when I have a gig where there is not one the Roland RD300nx is really good. I like it a lot.
The keys are some kind of new plastic that feels very much like ivory. The piano sounds are very good. You can adjust each piano sound with the lid up-down-or in between. The organ sounds are pretty good too. There are several samples of each instrument-not just one accordion, steel drum, marimba or vibes but several of each. You can do splits and layers. Of course the owners manual is lame and hard to decipher. Why is it the user manuals are always written by electronic engineers and not musicians? They don't use musician terminology to tell you clearly how to do things a musician would want to know and do. It takes a while to figure out how to program the keyboard.
Sturdy and solid.
At first I bought a Kuraweil. I used it for 3 weeks and sent it back. I exchanged it for the Roland which is much much better. The Roland cost more but well worth it.

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

Quit trying to decide and pick this one! Best keyboard I've ever used! VERY realistic piano sounds, and tons of other sounds to choose from! Beautiful pianos, electric pianos, guitars, strings, etc can all be accessed with just the push of a button, and if you're an expert, you could spend hours tweaking every little detail to perfection.

One of the reviews complained about the mid-range sound, but that's only going to happen if you use the stereo piano sounds with a mono amp (which is what he was doing with the KC-300). When the stereo signals get summed to mono, that causes phase cancellation, which tends to make it sound "muddy" in the mid-range. If mono is all you have to work with, then there are piano tones that are titled "mono". It only creates one signal instead of summing together two signals, so the phase cancellation won't occur when you use those tones. Problem solved!

If you want the flagship model, go for the RD-700NX, but in my opinion, this is the best bang for you buck. You still get 75% of the features, but for a lot less!

    Great piano

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

Great real piano feel. So if your a piano player you will fee like you are playing a real piano with fine action.

What are you wating for buy it you will love this piano from the moment it arives at your home.
I purchased one of these 2 years ago becuase I play in a 50's and 60's rock and roll group. We do the music the way it sounded back then.

In any event this piano is incredible. We do a lot of Elvis, Jerry lee, Santana Young Rascals, Wilson Picket and on and on. In any event, can go from live piano sound to the classic B-3 sound with a build in Leslie. With this piano, no need for a Hammond B-3 or even the new portable Hammonds XK something.

This thing is sampled sounds and gives you the full draw bar Hammond to other Hammond sounds without the hefty price tag. I play this through a classic Fender Bassman Amp with 4-10 speakers. With a built in Leslie, if you close your eyes you would swear there is a B-3 Hammond with Leslie is in the room. I can't tell the difference. In addition I carry an eletronic leslie that adds to some of the sounds that the piano bypasses the leslie with. So you can't beat this incredible sound that feels like a piano and plays so many sounds that are authentic.

Great piano to move from gig to gig. In the bag and over the shoulder and out the door.

Great piano, buy it you won't go wrong and you will love every minute of playing with this.
I have hauled this piano from gig to gig and it just keeps ticking. It so easy to set up plug in and play right out of the box.
Great value for the money. If you always wanted a B-3 and cannot afford one. This piano will give you that and much more as it has piano sounds, rodes, early Ray Chalres Wurlizter, voice sounds. You canot believe this piano.

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

The Piano sounds are awsome! The only drawback I discovered is while you have the sustain pedal down and are holding the last notes played in one tone and you want to make a smooth transition into another tone it interups your current tone and the sound just blanks out on you, but you are now in the new tone bank, hence the 4 star rating.

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

I had the privilege of spending time with one of these recently and here is what I noticed. First off, there are something like 1000 sounds on board and a number of which I have never heard before like Gary's Cars (In Cars-Gary Numan) and what a great sound. The strings also cut like a knife here. My one subtle disappointment, I hate to say it but it's the piano sound. It's ok, but I A/B'd it against the Roland FP50 and the FP50's piano sound had far more sparkle. What you get here that you do not get on the FP50 is all the editing which was my gripe against the FP50. My other beef is that this keyboard is not easy to get into your car as it's really long. I do like all the built in rhythms... great for practicing and then the last 10 slots of the 200 on board are different metronome settings! Cool. The effects section is great and can really change the sounds and this is a good controller for sound modules. So, in the end I played on some great sounds and mixed them easily with one of my sound modules but was left wanting that piano sound of the FP50 right here with all the better aspects of the RD300NX.

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

Our institution found this piano worked well in school situations where no workable piano existed or was out of tune making it prohibitive to utilize with the concert band where piano was essential. The setup was easy and required little expertise especially for keyboardist who only perform on acoustic instruments in concert hall setting.

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

Coming from an RD-700SX that I'm tired of lugging around...using mostly the acoustic grand sound. The 300NX action seems heavier and slower, but my major complaint is the muddy sound from the midrange on down thru the bass...just no clarity unless I tweak other settings to the point of a tinny sound. The upper range cuts thru nicely...better than the 700SX, but will be returning this unless I can quickly figure out how to improve the midrange sound (playing thru a KC300 amp).

Comments about Roland RD-300NX Stage Piano:

You aren't going to find a better sounding concert grand piano patch in this price range. The action is very realistic and the keys are textured so they don't feel slick. The damper pedal is surprisingly expressive, as it isn't just on/off, but you can half-dampen the sound. It comes with a width range of other nice sounds, eight of which can be programmed to be at your fingertips. A great buy.
