Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
I recently joined a band that plays an upbeat tempo style of music. I wanted something that could handle the energy, was very simple, and was affordable. I am a Yamaha freak when it comes to pianos and keyboards, so my first destination was Yamaha's site. I looked up there and found the CP33. It was the only one that really appealed to me, due to it's simplicity. The piano voice comes out so clear and lovely. Very easy to listen to. I think you might want to change the setting to a more mellow, otherwise it may sound somewhat like a regular portable keyboard. I love all the great control you have over it, from action, to tone, to voice, to volume, and even to lock the buttons on the board so that you don't accidentally hit them to where they change the settings. I would so recommend it to anyone who has the same mind as I do! TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!

The sound & feel of an acoustic piano with ability to keep up with guitars, bass, drums, vocals. Other available voices serviceable, but it's the piano sound I wanted. I got it and then some.

Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
CP33 is the BEST full size, full weighted piano in it's class. I have owned one for 5 years and have taken it everywhere. It is durrable to go to gigs, break down and set up over and over again and still work excellently. This tough keyboard has been with me to outdoor concerts and smoky bars. I have played so many places in the past five years it is traveling constantly. My advice buy a backup power cord as this is the weakest part. The sounds are great particularly the electric & acoustic painos, organs sounds are limited but Strings are very good. Still the best under $1000. and under 45 lbs. carry in/out without handtruck.
Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
The Yamaha CP 33 fits my stage needs perfectly. I wanted a no frills, road worthy, 88 key portable rig with a realistic piano sound, key action and touch. Excellent value, quality, sound. You can change the key touch (weight). Medium seems real enough from my experience. I use a Roland for organ sounds.
I only give it a 7 because it doesn't have many features. However, I didn't want to pay for a lot of features and resident computer hardware that i don't use on stage.
the key action and feel is just like most pianos. it sounds great on stage and on a live recording at a recent gig. Excellent, realistic piano sound. It seems to be built very well, very solid.
Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
Worth every penny. A big step up from cheap unweighted synths and weighted casio keyboards.
GREAT piano sounds. I'm blown away by how realistic the samples sound, and the notes have a good sustain. Has a built in metronome that has transformed our band practices. Buy this for the piano sounds, not the strings or other instruments.
Worth the money. I previously had a Roland Synth Keyboard, then a Casio, and then this. They aren't even comparable to the Yamaha.
It's great. Heavy as heck, but great.
Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
It's one of the few equipment purchase I would make again without reservation, and recommend to anyone who can afford it.
If you want a stage piano, buy this, now that the price has come down. There might be something better than the CP-33, but you wouldn't need it. Prior to the CP-33's generation of keyboards, digital piano sounds weren't quite there. As of the CP-33, they've nailed it. I have owned mine for five years, and I like it just as much now as when it was new. It does not include a lot of sounds, but the ones it does are all useful and convincing, e.g. electric pianos and organs. Don't forget that the Variation button provides a second version of each patch. Pressing the Variation button with the organ selected causes a realistic transition between slow and fast Leslie rotation, which is the finest sound in the world, in my opinion.
I own a Yamaha U3 upright. The CP-33's keyboard feels just as good, and sounds just as good if played through a high-quality amp. I use a Motion Sound KP-200S or a Roland SA300.
Easy to move at 25 pounds. Very sturdy. The display is minimal, for which I give it a 9 instead of a 10. Editing parameters, such as changing the split point, is very easy, but not obvious because of the simple three-digit LED display. You will have to look up each function in the manual the first time you edit it--but only once, because it's really easy to remember after that.
Try pressing Grand 1 and Mono Piano at the same time for a particularly rich piano tone.
Tough. If your stand collapsed, the CP-33 would probably survive.
A great value, now that the price has dropped. Put this on the lower tier of your two-tier stand, with a good synth above it and you're ready to make money. I suggest the Yamaha PSR S710 or S9 the Sweet/Cool/Live voices are magnificent--or the Casio WK-7500 if your resources are more modest.
Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
My hybrid piano project required a real piano sound and weighted keyboard that would fit into a less than 52" space (the dimensions of a Vose & Sons grand piano keyboard). The only reason Features is not a 5.0 is because of the weak strings section sound, however, I was delighted with the control of multi-voice if you are into that. Everyone in the auditorium thinks this is a real piano. Delighted with the control and sound, especially in the "HEAVY" touch mode. This makes this keyboard feel like a grand piano and allows very quiet playing to a soft touch.
Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
This is a great sounding piano for the price. This is really good for live performance. The sound cuts through the mix. I use another board to midi though, and get some additional sounds and I have mine run through a sonic maximizer, and it sounds really good. It isn't a workstation, or have a lot of unuasable sounds for live perfomance. But, this is a solid piece that plays really well. The weight of the keys feel like a real piano, and not a toy. This is a great live performance board, that is easy to use on stage.
Comments about Yamaha CP33 88-Key Stage Piano:
Bought without playing it first. A bit shocked as to the heavy feel of the keys, but I got used to it. Now its like a real acoustic. Wish the tone was weighted a bit more in the mid range as the bass seems to over power during live playing. Built like a tank and quite heavy. The best tones are the pianos of course. The organs are really worthless. Strings a re a bit better but lack flexibility. Its also a bit confusing to set up a variation using dual sounds but overall its a nice setup for gigging - - just keep in mind that this is primarily a piano. If you want additional sounds, get a synth.
