I have owned my DGX-500 keyboard for several months now, and overall, I am satisfied with it. There are a few things about it that I wish I could change, and I wish I had known a little more about it when I bought it. I purchased it with the survival kit, which includes a pedal, headphones, and a jack to hook up to an electrical outlet (why isn't this included with the keyboard???). One thing that may seem like a minute detail but somewhat irks me it the fact that when you put MIDI files on the floppy, the name must be less than eight characters long or it won't be displayed on the little 'screen' on the keyboard. The thing that I really don't like is that it says semi-weighted keys in the description, but believe you me, these are not the weighted keys similar to a real piano. This makes my playing a bit awkward, and that is the main reason why I am not completely satisfied with this product. Other than that, this is a fairly good product at a good price.

electric piano voices too similar to each other, no Fender Rhodes quality, but good reverb.

I love this instrument

By Ophir Atar

from Israel

Amazing piano and sax sound. Soft keys which allows you to play in the lower section of velocity ( 1-50).very professional accompaniment, although there are better. Good intro and very good balance.Easy to carry around. I would easily have bought it if it was much more expensive.

Great Value! Good sounds and decent features.

By dourdeeds

For the price the DGX500 is quality. The drums sounds are very nice but the features are limited. There is a complete ensemble of voices and styles. Some of the voices have a keyboard feel rather than sounding true to the instrument they represent. Track recording feature is nice but track bouncing capabilities would be a great improvement.Overall, this is a great piece of equipment for either the novice or the professional. And for the price, it can't be beat.

Beautiful synthesizer

By Chris-G9Ni0

from Undisclosed

This keyboard is beautiful. The sound quality is super clear and realistic. The keys feel great and it has a great action. It is a great keyboard to gig with or have at home or in the studio. I personally think that the voices in this keyboard are better than any other synth out there. Great job, yamaha!

This is a very realistic-sounding keyboard with a great feel to it. It has many features (some of which I don't know what they do!)
