Ultra-portable, intermediate-level digital piano with Yamaha's acclaimed stereo-sampled grand piano sound and Graded Soft Touch Action keyboard.

The Yamaha NP31 Piaggero gives you classic Yamaha piano tone and 76 full-sized keys in an ultra-portable package weighing in at just 12 pounds. Operating on just 6 AA batteries (not included), you don't even need a power outlet to play your piano anywhere your music takes you. The NP31 has an easy-to-use panel design with dedicated voice-select buttons. Built-in metronome with adjustable tempo and time signature appeals to the pianist who knows that practice makes perfect. The NP31's Graded Soft Touch Action emulates the graded resistance of an acoustic piano, only without the added weight of hammers. The combination of its 76-key Graded Soft Touch Action, ultra portability, and Yamaha's legendary stereo sampled grand piano, make the NP31 the ultimate practice piano for the intermediate player.

Slim, light, and compact design
Walk in, carrying the NP31 with one hand, and play anywhere thanks to the new slim, light and compact design—it's that easy.

Graded Soft Touch Keyboard
The NP31 has a 76-key, Graded Soft Touch Action keyboard. Just like an actual piano, the lower keys are heavy in touch and gradually become higher as you go up the scale—all the while retaining the soft touch of a digital keyboard. The soft touch makes it easier for beginning and intermediate students to develop the physical requirements of piano technique while learning to play expressively. This facilitates a more natural transition to the weighted keys of more advanced keyboards or the action of an acoustic piano.

Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) stereo sampling
AWM is a stereo sampling technique that creates superb wave data, which mirrors the sound and expression of the original instrument. It creates a unique, rich sound by using multiple waveforms. On an actual piano, the attack and harmonics of notes change as they are played at different volumes. AWM emulates this by substituting appropriate waveforms when keys are struck with varying intensity. This enables you to have a more realistic musical experience as you progress.

Built-in Stereo Speaker System
The NP31 uses highly efficient amplifiers that pack more sound into a lighter digital piano. With 6 watts per channel, the NP31 is ready to go loud and proud whenever you are.

Piano Preset songs
These presets provide performance data for piano songs as well as demo songs for your listening pleasure.

Battery Power or AC adaptor
The NP11 can be used with an AC adaptor [PA-150 (see #330238) not included] or alkaline batteries (not included) for up to 6-hours. Battery-power is the key to the Piaggero’s portability.

Auto Power Off mode
This is a new, eco-friendly mode. The NP31 comes with a function that turns off the power automatically if the keyboard has not been used for a set amount of time (30 minutes) in order to avoid using power unnecessarily. This supports long battery life.

Easy access panel
The NP31 features dedicated buttons for each voice on the top panel.

Comments about Yamaha NP31 76-Key Mid-Level Piaggero Ultra-Portable Digital Piano:

Not sure what the others before me were playing or their experience level..I've been playing piano since 5, professional since 11 and teaching in a public school now. This by far is one of the better portable keyboards with a realistic acoustic piano and Fender Rhodes sound and I have tried MANY keyboards in my career of over 40 years. Great for practice purposes and then put through a PA system is even better! The combo Grand and Strings (pushing both buttons down)is an excellent Piano/Strings combination..warm strings with just the right amount of delay after lifting off the keys. Numerous combinations with the layering. I also MIDI the keyboard with a Korg XR module and it opens even more possibilities. I am purchasing another for my recording studio at home!

Comments about Yamaha NP31 76-Key Mid-Level Piaggero Ultra-Portable Digital Piano:

Great product. Only downside is that the only case for it has to be the Yamaha one because its the perfect size (can't buy a generic case for it because of its irregular size.)

Comments about Yamaha NP31 76-Key Mid-Level Piaggero Ultra-Portable Digital Piano:

Piano sound is really good through external speakers or headphones, the built-in speakers are ok for practice but thats about it. Still, for the price you really can't beat this little gem. If are looking for a realistic piano sound on a budget, this just might fit the bill.

Comments about Yamaha NP31 76-Key Mid-Level Piaggero Ultra-Portable Digital Piano:

Good enough to satisfy my cravings to play every once in a while but does not have the feel of a real piano. The SFT must be set to hard to manage my touch. If you get your fingers to high on the key it will not depress since you are too close to the lever point. Very different from real piano touch. It will do.
Would recommend only if person is not looking for proficient play.
