Yamaha

Black 88-note, weighted action digital piano with GHS action.

The Yamaha P-105 has an 88-note, Graded Hammer Standard weighted action keyboard that feels heavier in the low end and lighter in the top, just like the keys of an acoustic piano. The PureCF sound engine recreates the sound of Yamaha's famous CFIIIS concert grand piano. Also new, the USB to Host port and line-level AUX outputs allow a variety of connectivity options with everything from an amplifier to an iPad. And 128-note polyphony ensures the suppression of dropped notes even with simultaneous Dual, Split, and drum pattern playing. In the EQ department, Intelligent Acoustic Control provides full, balanced sound that adapts to your volume setting for the best possible tone at any level.

PureCF-Sampled Piano
Sampled from Yamaha's own acclaimed CFIII concert grand, no digital piano at this price point delivers recordings from such a high-end instrument.

Pianist styles
This built-in duet partner plays along with you in one of ten different playing styles.

Built-in Drum Patterns
Basic drum patterns put the "fun" back into practicing and is a practical alternative to a metronome. Or turn your solo act into a two piece band where the dummer is always on time.

128-Note Polyphony
Even when using dual Voice and split mode with a drum pattern, 128-note polyphony ensures every note gets heard.

Intelligent Acoustic Control
Optimized for the built-in, 2-way, stereo speaker system, the P105 EQ automatically adjusts to your volume setting to ensure the absolute best tone at any playing level.

Assignable Split Voice
Choose two Voices and assign them to either the right or left hand. This is more musically versatile compared to a single, pre-assigned, left-hand bass Voice.

Comments about Yamaha P-105 88-Key Weighted-Action Digital Piano:

I am not a professional pianist or anything but I love it. I use it to practice on and so far I have no complaints. Of course, the extra sounds are not extremely realistic but I got it for the piano sounds and not for the extra sounds and so it is very fitting for my needs. I am just a beginner at learning to play piano, so I use it to practice on quite a bit. It is very easy to use, and definitely portable.

I purchased this as a replacement keyboard for my daughter. The sounds is great, the keys are touch sensitive. It's the next best thing to a real piano. The folks at Musician's Friend were super helpful as well, and that always makes a big difference to me!

Comments about Yamaha P-105 88-Key Weighted-Action Digital Piano:

I wanted a single keyboard for using with protools and plugin samples. I write film score music. But I also wanted a keyboard that had speakers and out put jacks for taking with me to play in a band or small show. This board has it all. Excellent key feel, USB jack, 1/4" out put jack, speakers within. I shut all my programs down, plugged in the usb and it automatically loaded the drivers and was ready to go. Turn protools on and Eastwest orchestra and baboom it was ready!! Awesome board.

Comments about Yamaha P-105 88-Key Weighted-Action Digital Piano:

I'm not a working keyboardist, but rather someone who is recording demos in my small studio. I needed a simple keyboard that had weighted keys, but most of all would sound as close to a real acoustic piano as I could afford. At this price, I am very pleased. It plays well, and suits my purposes just fine. The electric piano and organ sounds, as well as the harpsichord sound, are all useable for me. I can't speak to its durability, as it will only sit in my recording room, but I am very satisfied, given my limits as a player.

Comments about Yamaha P-105 88-Key Weighted-Action Digital Piano:

To qualify my opinion, I must state that I have been playing piano for most of my 50 + years. I grew up with a Steinway grand in my father's violin shop and have had a piano of some kind since becoming a studio musician in 1978.

With that said, I can wholeheartedly recommend this electric piano both for its natural feel, dynamic touch response and realistic tone.

The included speakers are fine for low volume solo-practicing at home. Even the bass notes are well defined and have some authority. To hear this concert grand through a great set of headphones makes it a pleasure to practice without disturbing the household.

Through an accurate set of studio monitors or flat-response speakers, this is as close to a real piano sound as I have ever heard.

I use the QSC ISIS I-82H along with a QSC amp and mackie mixer for rehearsals and Jazz gigs. For any louder material, I run the piano through two JBL eons speakers.

Of course the sound is slightly less realistic through the Eons at ROCK volumes, but still quite impressive.

The "extra" piano sounds are OK, but not stellar. There is no way (other than EQ) to tweak those sounds, so this is not for those looking to invent new sounds or emulate synthesizers.

This is a superb instrument at this price point for those who mainly want a good acoustic piano sound.

It is not an organ. It does have a single pipe organ sound, and that's OK. But it is stifling to anyone who has played real organs, whether pipe or digital.

Get it for the acoustic piano, the portability, the ease of use and the price. It has few bells-&-whistles... but that is an advantage for those of us who just want a piano.
