This is the best electronic/digital PIANO that I have ever owned. I started out in 1978 at 10 yrs. old with a Roland EP-20. I've owned Rolands & Kurzweils, but this is the first Yamaha I have owned. I sold my Kurzweil to buy this P95 for the piano. I play country and gospel and the Yamaha sound just works best for this type of music than any other brand (IMO).
I can plug it straight into my sound system with a stereo cable or in smaller settings and/or practice, use the onboard speakers which do pretty well. I can also use the headphone jack for private practice/playing time. I can use the onboard piano sound for recording or MIDI it up to my software grand.
The action on this piano is great and the samples "speak" to me. The Kurzweil I had, had a decent enough piano sound, but the action was sluggish and the piano did not respond like an acoustic. I hated playing it. This Yamaha responds like a piano should. Although it sustains better than the Kurzweil, I still think there could be some improvement in that area. With that said, I am happy with what it is and what it does. I grew up playing a Yamaha upright and this P95 feels like a piano. The only thing about the piano sound it that there are some harmonic overtones in some of the upper registers of the keyboard. It is not a deal-breaker for me, but some ultra-critical people may have issues with it.
I also built myself a MONO summing cable so I can go from the headphone out jack to a MONO amp. When I was trying this keyboard out in the local music store, the clerk plugged it into a Behringer keyboard amp using a standard guitar cable from the headphone jack to the amp. I couldn't believe how good it sounded. Most stereo sampled pianos don't collapse well into mono, or just using either the left or right signal usually sounds toy-like and un-appealing. This Yamaha sounds great either way. I have to say it sounds best in stereo (which is what it was designed for) but if you have to go MONO, it is a viable option with this keyboard using the headphone output jack, which is 1/4".
I shopped around and researched this P95 Piano for almost 2 years before purchasing it. I tried the CP33, the P155 and the P95. I eventually disregarded the CP33 due to not having any speakers, which I need for my lifestyle and requirements. It was between the P155 and the P95. I like the 4-level sampling and the string resonance samples of the P155. It also has 1/4" Stereo Line outputs and a 1/4" MONO output. What it came down to was the P95 was a little smaller footprint and only weighs 26 lbs., whereas the P155 weighs 40 lbs. I also determined that the P95 had a bolder sound which works for what I like playing Country music.
I would recommend the Yamaha P95 to anyone looking for a lightweight, super-portable, realistic feeling and sounding piano. The other sounds on the keyboard are acceptable, but nothing that will blow you away. For Piano, I feel this is the best option in terms of portability, response and sound for the money.

I wanted this keyboard for months after reading about it and playing it a little at the store. Now after owning it for just 3 days, I am packing it all back up and returning it. The problem? This keyboard has very harsh, unrealistic electronic-sounding overtones to its higher keys when holding down notes or sustaining them with the pedal. It happens through the speakers and headphones and I've tried different sustain pedals. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you spend some time at the store listening for what I'm talking about... especially with headphones, before purchasing this item. This keyboard is completely un-recordable.

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
I bought this piano primarily for use as a relatively inexpensive controller for my Motif synth and PC sound samples. Secondary uses include just practicing, learning/writing new pieces and just casual noodling. Since I'm using it mostly as a controller, built in sounds are not a major concern - although I find them sufficient for my secondary uses.

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
This thing isn't too shabby. The action is a bit too firm for me, but I have an antique 6' grand which playes like butter, so it's not really a con.
Good selection of organs, other keyboards etc. The worst thing is the lousy 2 bit output connection. Really, you can do better. I should be grateful it's not a mini plug, like some of the others of it's kind out there. It devalues the whole thing somewhat, especially if you want to use this to play live. Overall good except for the (censored) output connections.

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
I haven't had it long enough to know about durability but it is replacing a Yamaha DX7 that is almost 30 years old. I suspect this instrument will last at least half that long. That's good enough for me.
There aren't many "Features". That's one of the things I like. I use it as a controler mostly. The keys have a good feel. The speakers sound fine for practicing. I can hit the one button and play. I do wish it had a USB port.
It's the quality you'd expect from Yamaha.
For the price it's incredible. I was looking at keybords that were 3 times the price.
Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
I bought the Yamaha P95 Digital Piano mainly to use as an 88key MIDI controller to hook to a MOX6, but was very pleasantly suprised by how nice the sounds are that are built into this unit. Its very easy to use and the keys feel great. The sustain pedal that comes with it is a little cheesy, but it works. I bought an FC3 and it is well worth it to have the half pedal feature and just feels more like the real thing. The sounds coming directly from the onboard speakers is really pretty nice.....I think its actually more clear and realistic than running it with an amp. The board does have two 1/4" phones out jacks that can be used to run to two sets of headphones or two amps. I bought the restock model to save a few bucks and the unit arrived in its original packaging with all the parts and I don't see any blemishes or issues with it at all.....only thing missing was the higher price. I've dealt with Musician's Friend a lot though and have full confidence that they would have made things right if there was anything wrong with the unit.
Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
We're very happy with the P95. We got it for our son who has been playing for several years. It was time to step up from our Casio CTK3000 to a full size keyboard. The P95 was recommended by our teacher. It sounds very good (no more clicking!), the keys feel like a real piano, and it looks very nice. The sustain pedal that comes with the P95 is fine, but it really moves around on the carpet. For now we are using an upside-down shower mat under it and that works. But we may decide the get the pedal unit that comes with the L85 stand.
Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
If you're looking for a great digital piano, but don't have a whole lot of money to spend, I'd definitely suggest getting this. I love the key action, which in my opinion, is so similar to the grand piano. It'd be great for a beginner for sure! I use it as a practice piano and absolutely love it! One downside is the speakers, but theyre not unliveable! I think you get more than you paid for with this =)
Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:
Great feel, and the grand piano samples sound pretty good with a solid pair of headphones. I wouldn't recommend trying to use this keyboard with just the onboard speakers though, as they really don't do the samples justice. I use it as a practice piano in my apartment so I don't bug my neighbors, and it's been absolutely perfect for that.
