      OVERVIEW

      For learning, practicing and performing.

The PSR-E443 offers many innovative features. The basic features for learning to play--like the Yamaha Portable Grand and Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) -- and features for when it's time to perform, like synthesizer Control Knobs for real-time control of filter, effects, and sound envelope. Powerful new Styles from different musical genres can be performed with 186 different patterns and 150 arpeggio Voices. The easy-to-use professional features and cool design set this keyboard apart in its class.

The PSR-E443 contains all of the Yamaha 'tried and true' Learn to Play features plus AUX In with advanced vocal/melody suppressor, Pattern Retrigger, Cross Fader, Control Knobs for sculpting the sound of the keyboard with huge sweeping effects, cool synthesizer arpeggiators, and over 700 built-in music sounds giving you professional tools you need to create compelling, professional-sounding music in one compact portable keyboard.

      PATTERN Function
The PATTERN function puts a wealth of powerful loops and beats at your fingertips to instantly create dynamically varied music on the fly like a DJ. And, for even more authentic preformance try the new crossfade and retrigger functions.

Real-time Control Knobs and Pitch Bend
Two realtime control knobs let you filter and adjust your sound just like an analog synthesizer. The Pitch Bend wheel adjusts the pitch of the sound bringing Voices like the Sax and Trumpet to life.

755 High Quality Voices Including Super-Realistic Sweet! and Cool! Voices
The PSR-E443 includes 755 high-quality Voices, ranging from acoustic to electric instruments, featuring 5 Sweet! Voices and 3 Cool! Voices which use Yamaha's renowned advanced Voice technologies. The sound is given the final boost by the built-in 2-way speaker system with bass enhancement.

      Arpeggio Function
Tap into instant inspiration with the Arpeggio function, which has been improved for smoother playability. Hold Mode and Allocated key-range free your hands, allowing you to improvise over the pattern. The 150 Arpeggio patterns adjust and morph around the notes and chords you play on the keyboard allowing for almost limitless creativity.

      AUX IN
Connect an external audio player to the AUX IN jacks and play along with your favorite tunes. Advanced vocal/melody suppressor lowers the volume of vocals and melody lines of the original recordings, leaving that part open for you to play. *Depending on the song, the volume of the melody part may not be affected.

      iPhone/iPod touch/iPad connectivity
Connect your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and experience a new dimension of MIDI control with apps like Yamaha's Scale Tuner, Metronome and Visual Performer. *For iOS device connection, refer to the "iPhone/iPad Connection Manual"

      Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.)
Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) is an advanced set of helpful learning tools built into the instrument, letting you teach yourself how to play and perform regardless of your ability. Choose from nine step-by-step lessons for left, right, or both hands. Y.E.S. helps you master a song with ease.

World Wide Sounds Support Your Music
A rich set of ethnic sounds and scale tuning allow you to enjoy many styles of music around the world, including Latin, Indian, Arabic, African, Chinese, and more.

      Music Database
Get off to a flying start - choose a song and the Music Database automatically selects the best accompaniment and Voices for you to start playing immediately.

      USB to Device Terminal
USB TO DEVICE terminal on the instrument lets you load and save your settings and songs, as well as transfer data from connected devices such as a USB flash memory.

Note: This keyboard does not ship with batteries or a power supply. We enthusiastically recommend the Yamaha SK-D2 Survival Kit, which contains the appropriate power supply for your keyboard, as well as a footswitch, a set of headphones, a two-year extended warranty, rebate coupons and helpful software. #H65814

First, the cons. 1. The speakers are kind of weak. My 2002 psr292 is the equivalent model and is a little louder. 2. If you are not familiar with these keyboards, there is a lot to them and there are many hidden functions. If you read the manual, it is well explained. 3. Finally, some of the voices, like the sax and the violin, don't sound realistic to me. But that's only a few of the acoustic instruments.

Otherwise, it is a joy to use, and after trying the competition I am glad I chose this.

I mostly use it to help write songs, and it is a million times better than the psr292. Pros to me are the styles, many of which I find useful. You can't edit them, but you can delete individual instruments and change your grooves that way. The DJ stuff is very well done and a lot of fun. One of the biggest surprises was the arpeggiator as I am finding it far more versatile than I initially thought. Song functions (for creating your own) are also very useful. And I find most of the sounds to be very well done.

There are many functions I still haven't used yet. like the voice suppressor and the lessons. But as an arranger it kicks butt (for the money).

I wouldn't call it a professional piece of equipment (if I had the money I would buy a psr 750 or 950), but it works so well it fools you sometimes!

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E443 61 Keys Portable Keyboard:

I'm not a pro. I play guitar and drums. I have Mininova synth and I love it, buts it's just a synth. I've been researching for a budget full feature keyboard. After comparing all the features, the Yamaha PSR e443 was my first choice. The $250+ price tag was a deal breaker. The comparable Casio CTK 6600 is cheaper but it has the 12 channel mixer and work station features I doubt I would ever use. The lighted keys LK-280 seemed great for my kids, but the lack of a back lighted display was the deal breaker there. The 150 built in songs is great feature for kids. That's a huge selling point for the Casios. That led me to the CTK 4400. I was about to order one when I saw an online demonstration for the sampling function. The key changes accordingly, but the tempo also changes which makes it pretty much useless. The gimmicky nature of it turned me off a little. That had me back in the Yamaha camp.

I found a PSR e443 blemished at Musicians Friend. I have no regrets. The box looked like it just returned from Iraq, but I could only find a tiny nick on a corner and a scuff mark on the bottom. You have to really look though.

The DJ patterns is the best. My 6 year old can drop the beat like a pro. It's worth it for that feature alone. The dial up wheel is great for ease of use. The display is also nice. It places the notes you play on a staff which is great for learning. The voices sound great. I particularly love the piano/strings preset voice, so very 70's! The styles and music database are endless. Some of them are pointless but there are some gems hidden in there. The only 2 negatives I have so far are the lack of an octave +\- button. That's a menu dive. Being a 61 key instrument, it would be a valuable feature for the piano voices. The other negative is the minimal amount of built in/demo songs. Over all, this keyboard is truly awesome!! Thank you Musicians Friend and Yamaha!

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E443 61 Keys Portable Keyboard:

I just play the guitar while my wife plays the keyboard. I have fun with the keyboard with the one finger cord for the left hand.My wife and back singers and some of them request key that hard to play for my wife. So the transpose is great and it stay on so she can quickly transpose to any key. She loves the touch and looked for a long time before finding this perfect keyboard. We also play for nursing homes and assistant living homes. Play gospel country and big band music.

The flash drives purchased from Musician's Friend do not work in this keyboard which created many problems for me. Also, The User Songs are in a different numbering system from the previous 433 and therefore all the songs on the flash drives needed to be re-numbered.

Very professional keyboard. Not heavy, excellent for transporting. Contains excellent quality sound. Internal speakers are pretty loud without having to connect to an amp.
