A world-class keyboard that is able to expand and adapt with your needs.

The Yamaha PSR-S950 is packed with amazing Voices, Styles and comprehensive features to help you create, arrange, perform and record your music in any genre. Yamaha's cutting-edge sound innovation takes it all a step further with Audio Styles, a function that gives your performance greater expressive potential by adding real audio drum and percussion parts to Yamaha’s Guitar Enhanced Style engine. Additionally, the built-in FlashROM lets you load new Voices and Style Expansions (VSE) from around the world.

Realistic, expressive sound
Acoustic instrument-specific articulations, nuances and dynamics are challenging to reproduce. As one of the world's largest musical instrument manufacturers, Yamaha has long perfected both the science and art of this process to bring you the sophisticated, musical-sounding and easy-to-play instrument Voices. The PSR-S950's Super Articulation Voices reproduce the performance characteristics of acoustic instruments so authentically, you'll feel as if you're playing the real thing. Best of all, SA Voices intelligently add just the right expressive nuances to your performance without having to learn a bunch of tricks...just play. It's Mega Voices feature various playing techniques and performance sounds like guitar and bass finger slides, brass falls, vocal effects, etc. When used in Styles, Mega Voices provide some of the most realistic-sounding and dynamic accompaniments you've ever heard from a digital keyboard. You'd swear it ws the real thing.

Do it with "Styles"
The PSR-S950's Audio Styles take it one step further by adding an audio recording of studio drummers, percussionists and percussion ensembles playing in various recording studios from around the world. This adds the natural feel, ambience and warmth to the drum and percussion parts of the Style, giving your performance greater expressive potential. Yamaha Time Stretch Technology allows the audio to follow your tempo changes without changing pitch, so everything stays in perfect sync. The Guitar-Enhanced Styles not only reproduce the sound of guitar playing, they reproduce the actual chord voicings used by guitar players. This adds to the overall realism of the Style.

Sing, Sing a Song
Whether you sing for fun, enjoy karaoke, or are a singer/songwriter, the PSR-S950 provides everything you need to perform or write. Just plug in your mic and sing your heart out. The PSR-S950 has a A powerful Vocal Cancel function that effectively cancels or suppresses signals like vocals and solos that exist in the center of an audio file, allowing you to make your own “minus one” track and sing “karaoke” style with just instrumental backing.

The PSR-S950’s microphone input lets you connect a microphone and sing along with your keyboard performance, Song or audio file playback. With Vocal Harmony you can sing along with three of your own virtual background vocalists. Vocal Harmony2 takes that a step further with new pitch recognition and stability controls. A convenient realtime Mic Level indicator is included in the main display, and a new intuitive graphic user interface makes it easy to experiment with your own mic settings, effects and harmony types. To get you started, PSR-S950 includes 44 exciting Vocal Harmony presets, including male, female Voices, SFX settings.

The mixing console on this arranger keybard lets you mix your music like a studio engineer; including balance, panning and professional studio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) borrowed from Yamaha’s renowned professional recording and live sound products.

Real Distortion
The Real Distortion effects on the PSR-S950 are based on digital models of classic guitar amplifiers from the 1960s and 1970s. There are also digital models of legendary analog guitar effect pedals. The result meticulously reproduces the frequencies and dynamics of real distortion guitar sounds.

Comments about Yamaha PSR-S950 61-Key Arranger Keyboard:

The PSRS 950 is an upgrade from the PSRS 910 which I also had. I found both of them to be excellent for performing either solo jobs or with a guitar player as a duo. The accompaniments are excellent (and not cheesy), and it's easy to find a suitable accompaniment for any type of song. I save my favorites to a flash drive. The speakers on the 950 are definitely an improvement over the 910. I wish that it had three outputs so I could separate the drums, bass, and right hand, but I guess that would raise the price a lot. I was able to take the styles and registrations I saved on the flash drive for the 910 and plug the flash drive into the 950. Saved me from having to re-invent the wheel. Since the keyboard is fairly lightweight (25 lbs), it's easy to transport.

Comments about Yamaha PSR-S950 61-Key Arranger Keyboard:

The Yamaha PSR-S950 is a blessing in Disguise, as I had done a little research on the Yamaha Website
and discovered that this is an actuall Tyros 3 in disguise! The S950 has EVERY Voice the Tyros 3 had, but without the Tilting Screen on the Tyros 3. What I like is that it DOESN'T have the Tyros Price Tag, which makes it even more affordable and wanted, at least by me. Can't wait to get my hands on one between now and Summer 2014, I AM saving my Pennies

Comments about Yamaha PSR-S950 61-Key Arranger Keyboard:

I was initially disappointed in that the new mp3 player feature, although easy to use on its own, is somewhat difficult to incorporate into a live performance. Although the mp3 can be saved to a registration file and loaded this way, there is more button pressing and screen changes to get it to play. The name of the mp3 appears in small letters in the top left of the screen,as if it were an after thought. However, a loaded midi file shows in a different location in large clear letters. Whereas on my Korg PA3X 76 note model, two button pushes and the mp3 or midi file plays and you can easily see which file is loaded. However,I will put up with this as the new Yamaha PSR-S950 has better voices, effects and styles than the Korg. And the Vocal Harmony 2 is wonderful, the best on the market in an arranger keyboard.Just tidy it up a little Yamaha! And with a seperate output for the mic and please, please, please a 76 note version of this PSR-S950 keyboard will make it the best out there.

Very nice keyboard I love it and would definitely recommend it! It has good sound realism, good speakers and some good voices. It's great for arranging and composing music - its not a tyros but good especially for its price range. Wish there were more SA voices and styles.
        Overall a very good keyboard!!

Comments about Yamaha PSR-S950 61-Key Arranger Keyboard:

1)The PSR S950 is a joy to play. It sets a new standard for Yamaha's MOTL keyboards.

2)Practically all voices, especially new "Sweet" and "Super Articulation" sounds are extremely realistic and useful.

3)Good application of audio drums in 25 of the 408 styles - but why only 25? It should be 125!

4)Inadequate amount of expansion memory - a mere 64mb allows only for one expansion pack at a time.

5)Despite some of the minor irritations of this keyboard (no keyboard is perfect), it is superb in many ways and I have no reservations recommending this model to a friend.
