This is no ordinary sequencer.
It's a super-playable dance generator with editing and performance features that take you into new realms of groove. As a sequencer it gives you 16 full tracks of sound, 700 forceful voices, 960 aggressive preset patterns and room for 800 user patterns. But its best feature is the way you can control editing and performance with its full-featured panel. A 16-key micro keyboard lets you build sequences and switch patterns instantly. 8 realtime control knobs give you dynamic control of the sound on each track. Other features include a large backlit LCD, a 4-digit beat counter, and 32 LED indicators, and a built-in floppy drive for easy data saves and loads. MIDI support lets you input sync signals and control external devices.

I'm a guitar and keyboard player currently. With this drum machine you can do from ambient electronic style music, hip hop, to abstract rock style drumming. The Rm1x even has Jazz type drums. Not only good for just drumming but also background sounds. Synthesizers, FX, regular instrument sounds. Make sure you check out the manual, and take advantage of its MIDI capabilities. You can also mute any of the 16 tracks, lets say you only want to hear the drums only. You can. In summary, it's like having 16 musicians all at once. Oh! Did I metion you can also edit every sound there. You can change drum kits, bass, keyboards, everything. The patterns it comes with are alright, I'm not sure how you can change them yet. But, when I edit the sounds with the ones I want. You really come up with something original and fantastic. . I recomment this with any type of musician that wants to try different styles of music. Whether your a saxophone player, trumpet, guitar, keyboard, bass or even a singer. Just be patient and read the manual. You can't go wrong. Go for it!
The best synth/sequencer ever and very little to gripe about, maybe it's too easy to make a hit single out of it
This is perhaps one of the leading groovebox/sequencer's out there today. 99.99% of the sounds are the now sound...and phure sound. No need to worry about old voices. The LCD is one of the biggest ones, which makes it super-easy to program and sequence. The FX are just fantastic. So many knobs for you tweak-headz. GET IT!
easier to use than the mpc, plus it comes with over 40 drum kits, and 300+ synth sounds (options to create your own)
Best hardware sequencer next to rs7000, Sick fx, built like a tank, reliable, lots o' sounds, ability to make pretty much any kind of kit you need, all you need is a sampler, midi board and some thing to record into, Presto! finished high quality tracks. It just has lavish sequencing and editing, what more can you ask for from a drum machine? I use it with a yamaha a5000, korg dw8000, roland v synth, ensoniq eps, and record into my laptop with a motu 828 and logic 5, This is an awesome setup for me, unlimited possibilities.
Excellent sequencer, but factory patterns are lame; confusing controls, difficult to use at first, but with time it will become your best jam partner. MUST READ OWNER'S MANUAL FULLY and understand it to achieve total use of all the capabilities of this unit.
The sequencer is top notch. Great for on stage performance. However, if you want real sounding instruments, use an external tone generator! Too much hip-hop, Techno, etc. junk. O.K. if you only want to use for adding to existing music. Don't expect your XG MIDI songs to sound very good using the RM1X tone generator.
I really enjoy the sounds an editing features, also the many different ways to record there is lots of creativeroom with this unit, and it is syncable with many other midi units.
good quality and easy to use but not nice to play with
