As a DJ or musician, sound is a big deal—and it should be. But to put on the best show you can, you need amazing visuals too. Wash lights and other ambient lighting are a great starting point, but to go the extra mile and really take the audience's breath away, lasers and strobes are your special FX heavy hitters. Strobes have been a staple effect in live performances for decades, and they're not going away any time soon. These rapidly-flashing lights come in classic filament as well as modern LED types, with a variety of power levels so you can pick the strobe that's right for the venue. Take advantage of a strobe light with DMX connectivity to use built-in patterns or your own custom programs, or use a sound-sensitive model to create lighting effects that respond organically to your sound as you play. When you want to take your stage presence one step further, just add a few laser units to your lighting setup. Whether you're a band taking your gear on the road or a venue owner making a permanent installation, lasers offer a ton of effects for any situation. Geometric patterns, moving line drawings and 3D effects are all things you can achieve with a laser—there is even a laser effect that projects a skyscape on the wall, making it a backdrop-in-a-box! Just like the strobes, some laser effects offer programmable settings and sound sensitivity, allowing you to fine-tune every aspect of your show. Looking for something truly unique? How about a laser glove? This could be the most unique piece of equipment you will ever own. The laser glove is a wearable lighting effect with one laser diode for each finger's knuckle, projecting four laser beams directly from the hand. Imagine a laser glove on the fretting hand of the guitarist or bassist—or even a pair on the drummer. The only way it could be better is with a fog machine. The same goes for any laser, of course. A little fog makes the beams of the laser much more visible, so laser lighting effects are a natural partner for your fog machine. While each of these effects is cool on its own, together they're an essential for any live entertainer. There aren't many visual effects that will have more of an impact on your show that lasers and strobes. Mount them on a truss to beam down from overhead or set them up at the edge of the stage. With these effects in your show, you'll easily look as good as you sound.
