This isn't the worst clock i've ever seen but it's far from the best. Mine came free with dunlop string cleaner so I can't complain too much. The display is cool until you need to know the exact time (you can tell if it's around a certain time but it is difficult to tell the exact time). It's a neat gift to come with orders but I would't buy one.

So I recieved this clock as a free gift with my purchase of a Dunlop Formula 65 Neck Cradle, and I thought "Hey, I could use a clock for my workshop." So when everything finally arrived, I was somewhat mildly excited.

The first thing I opened was the clock. It looked decent, the plastic base seemed sturdy enough, and overall, it looked like it would accomplish its relatively easy task.

Here's where the problems start. After opening the back of the clock up to set the time, I put in a standard AA battery, as the instructions specify....and nothing happened. No ticking, no second hand movement, nothing. I thought it was the battery, so I tested two other AA batteries, and still nothing.

First off, the battery compartment was extremely loose and flimsy, being held to the base with extremely fragile plastic tabs. So you had to insert the battery somewhat gently, which is impossible to do because the it's a very snug fit. So you will, no doubt, possibly disrupt the inner workings trying to supply power to this thing.

After it wouldn't, I just took the entire thing apart. And every component in this clock was made of cheap plastic. The only metal parts were the screws, and some components on a circuit board (which was flimsy and fragile itself).

Overall, this is a shoddily made product that isn't worth the plastic it's made from. It was a free gift, however, so it's not like I'm out any money.

I read a lot of comments that said this is junk, and maybe some people got bad clocks, I can only say mine has run for three days with out fail, and I guess time will tell. It does have a nice look to it. Thanks for the gift.

Comments about Gear One Studio Clock:

Inserted the AA battery and the plastic battery housing broke on both ends. I'm glad I didn't purchase this item. Thank you MF for the free gift, however in the future you guys might want to invest in a better grade of novelty items.

I acquired three of these AA - battery-operated clocks for free, the result of purchases I made from Musician's Friend. They are attractive and reliable devices. Having a need for only one clock, I gave two of them away as Christmas gifts, and didn't feel miserly doing so.
