Good, nicely designed chairs, very good value, rather annoying quality control problems with non-central aspects. I will note that if these are shipped long distances the way they are currently packaged, there may be a high risk of more severe damage than mine suffered, with attendant hassles.
They are everything advertised ... no arms to get in the way of instrument necks, high straight backs, nice cushioning and fabric, smooth glider action, nice wood. A small word of warning is that if you plan on spending a lot of time in it watching videos, you may find a relaxed position more comfortable, but that is not their intended purpose.
We have some quality control issues on non-central points, but a lack of control is obvious. Most importantly the foot pads between the wood and your precious wood floor seem to be an afterthought with no attention to their importance. First, they are skimpy, but the real problem is that they are installed with long staples, terribly applied. Of the eight pads on my two chairs, six staples still protruded above the pads, one almost missed the pad and bridged the area that is supposed to contact the floor, and only one of the eight was centered in the recessed area and properly sunk. I replaced all eight with more generous pads from Lowe's. The whole operation took about an hour. You have to be careful about damaging the legs when removing the staples, and despite the "tap-in" promise of the replacements, I had to drill starter holes. Again, the first time you try to slide these chairs across your wood floor, watch out!
Second is the packaging. The chair tops are dismounted from the glider bottom, and four bolts and washers are supposed to be included, presumably in the plastic bag stapled to the chair that contains the instructions. Well, you don't need the instructions, but in one of the boxes, three of the bolts were wondering homeless, while the other bolt and four washers had escaped thru one of the gouges in the shipping box. On one of the vertical chair back supports, there was a gouge about one half inch long. Both shipping boxes were violated. None of these problems made me want to send them back, but if I'd purchased them locally, I'd have wanted replacements. So, I conclude that precious little quality control is applied to shipping, and the chairs themselves should be wrapped in some of that dense bubble foam. The only assembly issue is that it's possible to mount the chair tops backwards, so pay just a little common sense attention.
A Musician's Friend sale made these attractive, after having noticed them maybe 10 years ago. Free shipping clinched the deal. Note that it is rare for Musician's friend to ship free to Alaska, or any of the US out-lying areas. Anyway, I'm happy with them and the price. I am not sure I couldn't have found a competing value locally, but again, no buyer's regret whatsoever.

this chair is well made of quality wood. height of back and seat are perfect for playing guitar in. the blue cushion is beautiful and very soft. you can put it together in a few minutes with a 1/2 inch wrench. as many have reported the 4 bolts and washers were loose in the box and tend to fall out of the shipping box. i purchased it from musiciansfriend at a great price and it was shipped here in 6 days after purchase......i like it alot and it looks great

Like the chair. Disliked the packaging. The ziplock bag with the hardware couldn't hold it so the hardware was lose in the box....then the box was torn. Now somewhere in America there are nuts floating around with no bolts. Seems to be a problem with this chair for several people....

The chair is very nice. Not cheap but comfortable. The method of packing showed problems. There were supposed to be 4 bolts and 4 washers contained in a plastic bag to be used in the assembly. The bag was empty and the contents were in the box somewhere minus 2 washers. Lame. The assembly instructions showed an illustration of a chair that was not the one in the box. It had arms and my chair didn't. Lame.

I bought this chair maybe 4-5 years ago to replace an armed glider, which made playing bass tricky. The only complaint is I had to supply a couple of screws. I also need to apply WD40 to the glider mechanisms periodically. I love it though. It's comfy and makes playing fun.

After I contacted Musicians Friend with frustration over certain quality aspects of this product, their customer service department was gracious in replacing the chair at their cost, which we have been pleased with. However, we still note issues with the shipping in which parts were shipped loose inside the box, and the box was not well sealed. Hopefully these concerns will filter down to the appropriate department and more care will be taken to avoid this situation in the future.

Came in timely manner. Packing leaves alot to be desired but have recieved furniture from other companied with similar packing so was not surprised. There was not enough washers to assemble the chair. This seems to be a common complaint in the reviews. If the company would use a heavier bag than a thin sandwich bag to pack the bolts and washers in there may be less loss.

I sat in a Pickin' Glider about 20 years ago at Elderly Instruments in Lansing,MI. I was trying to decide which banjo or guitar to buy. That smooth gliding, armless chair made pickin' special. I wanted one, but couldn't afford an instrument & chair on the same bill. Later, I bought a cheap glider & removed the arms to make my own chair. But, that didn't work. Recently, Musician's Friend had a sale with free shipping. Ironically, I paid less today than what the chair cost years ago! This is a great chair! Thanks Musician's Friend!

Comments about Pick N Glider Musician's Chair:

I have seen these chairs advertised various places for many years, and often thought about getting one for the dedicated guitar area in my basement. With the discount from M Friend, I decided to take the plunge.

Just as other reviewers noted, the company that makes this chair should invest a tad more in the quality of the shipping container. My chair was undamaged, but the container did have a gouge and it could have been hurt. That said, the assembly was a piece of cake, I can't imagine anyone having trouble. The color that I ordered (green) was just a little dissppointing as it was not as vibrantly bright as it looked online - I note that this chair also is not offerred in as many colors as it used to be. It still looks nice, and I am able to sit and force myself to practice my licks longer than before as my rear no longer goes numb as it did on my solid wood bottom prior chair. I play mostly acoustic, some larger size (eg Taylor LKSM 12 string) guitars, and the chair size is very adequate. I am an average 5'11" guy weighing 160 lbs so the chair sturdiness is no issue for me.

I am happy I finally got this.
