At 51 I've finally decided to get serious about learning to play guitar. That means lots of hours of practice. I'd been using a folding chair for my practice sessions but the position was wrong making it difficult to keep the guitar in position. Then I switched to a kitchen stool which put me in a better position, but the thinly padded seat quickly became uncomfortable.

Then I saw this product and decided to bite the bullet and put some money into a proper guitar stool. This thing is great for long practices. With 2 foot rings you can find a comfortable position that will allow you to lock the guitar in a steady position The shaped padded seat is great and I never have to end a session because my tail hurts any more. I can do a 2 hour session and remain comfortable. I am 6' tall and the short model is close to perfect for me. If anything, its an inch or so too tall. Unless you are REALLY tall the short model is probably your best bet but you could always cut the legs down if needed.

All in all, a guitar stool is not something a lot of guitarists think about but face it if you are going to learn to play you're gonna be spending a lot of time on one so its worth the investment to get a good one and this is the best by far.
Rotating, sculpted padded seat, 2 foot rings choice of short or tall model (short is good for me at 5'11")
      Very sturdy, high quality materials.
I think this will last longer than the "bar type" stools with music company logos you see at lots of guitar stores. Its also more comfortable since the padding doesn't crush so you can feel the frame like on the guitar logo stools.

This is a fine, well-made, comfortable stool, it's great for gigging, BUT! If you plan to sit on it while recording this IS NOT the stool you want. In time it will develop penetrating metallic squeaks which really aren't all that loud, but WHOA, your microphone will really pick them up! Of course you can retighten the screws but you won't be able to completely eliminate the problem. If you're a classical guitarist maybe you sit very still and it won't be an issue. But if you move around...

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

I really wanted to like this stool based on the other reviews. There is no place in my area that has this stool to try out. I am 6'2" tall with a 32" inseam. I sit the guitar on my right leg. With my foot on the bottom footrest / rung, my leg is not parallel to the floor (it angles down instead) and the guitar slides off (this happens whether I am wearing shoes or not). I can't really put my foot on the top footrest / rung since it is too high. It really needs another set of holes three inches or so above where the bottom footrest is.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

Use it mainly playing guitar but I do enjoy it at our kitchen bar and counter. Sitting and playing guitar for long periods, in an armless office type chair takes a real toll on my back an hips. This stool has addressed that issue completely and it's just comfortable, whether sitting on or kind of a leaning/sitting rest. The footrest ring really caps off a very comfortable stool. Only problem? I have to chase family and friends...even non-players want to grab it. Gonna have to get at least one more for the music room.

I've had this seat for a couple weeks now... It's very comfortable and the short stool sits at the perfect height for my feet to the rungs, or to the floor, for me being 5'-11". The quality is great and much better than all of the other 'round seat' stools I tried out at the local guitar stores. I decided to order this one through MF and glad I did. At first I couldn't decide on short vs tall and went ahead and got the short one because it was 26" and not 24" like most others. I think the 29" tall stool would have been good also if you want to set a little higher.

Got the short stool and it is still too tall to work well with reaching floor effects! I'm 6 foot tall so I'm reasonably average and it is not easy to reach foot pedals while sitting on it. Should be about two inches lower. Doesn't sound like a lot, however it does make a large difference in reaching your pedals! It's OK, however, only OK.

Nice and comfortable, Better than the card table chair I was using. It was what I expected in design and utility. However, the stool was obviously a floor model or otherwise used, although advertised as new. This is not a knock on the stool, but Musician's Friend is no longer a "friend" of mine. This is the kind of thing that you don't fight them on, you just walk away from them.

Alright, I've had this seat for a few months now and I will tell you this... It's very comfortable and the short selection sits at the perfect height for you to use your pedals. I could sit down about three hours straight of jamming and still be comfortable. If you want a quality seat, get this.
