At 51 I've finally decided to get serious about learning to play guitar. That means lots of hours of practice. I'd been using a folding chair for my practice sessions but the position was wrong making it difficult to keep the guitar in position. Then I switched to a kitchen stool which put me in a better position, but the thinly padded seat quickly became uncomfortable.

Then I saw this product and decided to bite the bullet and put some money into a proper guitar stool. This thing is great for long practices. With 2 foot rings you can find a comfortable position that will allow you to lock the guitar in a steady position The shaped padded seat is great and I never have to end a session because my tail hurts any more. I can do a 2 hour session and remain comfortable. I am 6' tall and the short model is close to perfect for me. If anything, its an inch or so too tall. Unless you are REALLY tall the short model is probably your best bet but you could always cut the legs down if needed.

All in all, a guitar stool is not something a lot of guitarists think about but face it if you are going to learn to play you're gonna be spending a lot of time on one so its worth the investment to get a good one and this is the best by far.
Rotating, sculpted padded seat, 2 foot rings choice of short or tall model (short is good for me at 5'11")
        Very sturdy, high quality materials.
I think this will last longer than the "bar type" stools with music company logos you see at lots of guitar stores. Its also more comfortable since the padding doesn't crush so you can feel the frame like on the guitar logo stools.

This is a fine, well-made, comfortable stool, it's great for gigging, BUT! If you plan to sit on it while recording this IS NOT the stool you want. In time it will develop penetrating metallic squeaks which really aren't all that loud, but WHOA, your microphone will really pick them up! Of course you can retighten the screws but you won't be able to completely eliminate the problem. If you're a classical guitarist maybe you sit very still and it won't be an issue. But if you move around...

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

This is a great stool and very comfortable for long jam sessions or practicing... I got the short version based on reviews here on M.F. -but I've found for prolonged usage you need a tall AND a short stool so you can stretch out and get the circulation working. A tall cushioned bar stool with a comfortable seat back will be my next buy. Too bad these guys don't offer one!! :-(

I was looking for a stable and comfortable stool to use while practicing and playing guitar. This turned out to be better than I imagined. A very stable platform with an exceptionally comfortable seat. I purchased the short version and it is perfect the perfect height.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

From the moment I opened this product I knew it was a wise purchase. And a fair price. This is definitely furniture quality.

The quality of the seating pad is excellent/firm and the metal stool construction itself is of high quality. I had read a review before purchasing that the shorter 24" stool would suffice for most musicians. I will confirm this. If you are 6'0 tall like me the shorter stool is very adequate. It is 24" up to the bottom of the pad and the pad itself is about 4 inches. The 2 footrest levels make this an even more functional product.

I will probably buy another one of these days. 5 stars for sure.

Good seating for practicing and love the fact that it does swivel and it comes assembled. Only wish would be that it could be adjusted an inch or two down/up to account for shorter folks, like myself.
Good quality and it looks cool!

This is a quality musician's stool. I practice with my dobro a lot and my butt was getting fatigued with an ordinary wooden house chair. The cushion on the Roc n Soc is thick, firm, comfortable and supportive. My butt feels better after practicing for an hour or so... I think you will like this if you buy it. It is heavy so if you plan to take it on gigs be forewarned but if you do take it with you you will be comfortable.

This is the best stool I have ever used. Very comfortable and and very good quality. I am 6'3" and the short stool is the perfect height. It allows me to keep one foot on the ground or both on the ring, whichever I find more comfortable at the time. I use it to practice my various stringed instruments for long periods of time without any discomfort on my back at all. My brother (who is shorter) was so impressed with the comfort and quality he had me order the tall stool for him to use at his workbench and he loves it!

I purchased the stool for instrument practice. I sit all day in chairs that are too low (I'm 6'5") and uncomfortable. I have been pleased with the height of the stool (the small model), its stability, and padding that is just right. It comes ready to use. Even though I am able to assemble most things I get it was nice to not have to break out the tools. Great product.
