A collaborative piece of art on canvas by one of the world's best drummers.
One of the greatest drummers in music history has unveiled a highly limited collection of artwork built from rhythm. Steve Smith, known for his influential catalog of work with Journey and Vital Information, created "Quadraphonic" through the new medium of capturing rhythmic performance and putting it to canvas in a debut collection called "The Fabric of Rhythm."
Highly limited, there are a total of 3 "Quadraphonic" pieces available in the edition, all are numbered and individually signed by Steve Smith.
On the work, Steve Smith states:
"I love this series of images using a red tipped Vic Firth Lite-Stick in my right hand and a green tipped Lite-Stick in my left hand. All four worked together so well we went with a collage. I was playing straight-ahead swing at a medium tempo, relaxed and open. You can see the extreme rebound and motions of my hands in all four shots and my "over/under" moves on the hi-hat in the upper left hand corner. These are perfect examples of seeing what happens in-between the beats you hear: You can actually see the fabric of the rhythm."
