I just got this. Messed with it alongside some of my other cheapodynamics just to compare tones ran 4 of them through a little mixer including a Samson, a Tascam, a MXL, and now this, and noodle with the mix blending them, isolating, etc. It stood up well enough and wasn't any weaker than the rest, and had its own 'voice' I suppose. It's pretty bland and flat but for a guitar amp micing I found that upping the high mids and highs a tad helped, and dropping out the lows almost entirely on a 3-band is nice for a cheap live vocal. I ran mine into a keyboard PA/amp dry and managed to get it pretty damn loud and non-muddy enough without feedback right alongside a drumset and 30 w guitar amp, able to cut through a mid-volume practice bit. So that's the mic. It's no finely tuned magical soundscape brush or anything and yeah I would like it to be a 57 but for what it is, it does the job. With some EQ knowhow and decent mic technique it sounds nice and it's good enough for just simple rockin if you aren't worried about high end processing frequency anal production nerd stuff. I read an earlier review about a guy who used this to single mic a whole drum set. I tried this too. Ummm. Sure it can pick up everything, but no, my advice is don't bother. This is just too hyper-cardioid (aka stay close and right in front so sound clear) to avoid distance/angle issues with what comes in louder than what. It's just a bad idea, unless you have NOTHING else then hey go for it and bless your heart for trying and making do, right? (2 of these with one up and back behind the snare side and 1 closer to and facing into the kick and slightly between ride and tom side might work better for some volume levelling, just a guess I'll have to try). So that's the mic I guess. It has a feature that's almost worth noting; The on-off switch is rather pronounced and slightly rounded so its easy on the thumb. Yeah whatever, right? I did say "almost". Oh yeah it had a bag it came in too. The CABLE is what I am happy with. As I said I haven't had it long, but it isn't that flimsy seeming like I expected. It has a bit of a girth to the cord, so I feel less scared that I will short it by stepping on it. It remains to be seen if the connectors are going to last a lot of tugs in future but I figure being a bit gentle until I know for sure then yeah I get a nice cable. The stand is what it is supposed to be. Plus the clip is a clampy so it's much more useful to me as I can stretch it out for an oversized condenser if I want. It is very light, but it stays up, and is very malleable with how you want to bend and twist it into position. No problems. Overall: No problems, a couple of nice surprises (a mic bag!) the most important being that there were no problems ;) But the mic cable is decent quality from what I can tell, the mic itself is on par with dynamics under $100 bucks, and the stand works. It's a good deal. Cheers.

I'm not gonna totally bash these things, but they aren't very good. The mic is harsh and bassy. It's hard to understand any spoken or sung words. A little boost in the highs and reduction in the lows fixes that. The mic clip is of pretty good quality, however. Nice, hard plastic. Not the really cheap stuff. The cable is also pretty ok. never shorted out in the almost 4 years I've had this package. I still use it with my shure mics. the stand broke in about 3 places when I had had it for about a year. All things considered, like the previous reviewer stated, the mics are fine for rehearsals or fooling around, but nothing live. even if you HAD to use these live, cut the lows and boost the highs.

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Pro-Pak:

I got this for cheap (can't list the amount) and can't complain about the price. I am using the mic with a Boss VE 20 Vocal Processor and a Boss RC 300 looper and I needed a mic with a dedicated on/off switch and a boom type mic stand which the setup has. I get decent sound from the mic with the vocal processor and the switch makes life easier as I no longer have to turn down the mic input on the looper. The build quality is fairly cheap, but hey for the price I can't complain too much. I had to send the first one back to MF because the mic mount was broken, but the 2nd one is good.

    Good as a spare mic

    By James Schwab

    from Midland, TX

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Pro-Pak:

I don't like mixing, using or listening to others use this microphone. I should have known not to expect much coming from a microphone with an on/off switch as I was warned about all of those. I prefer my other microphones, but this one was cheaper. It was also an impulse buy because I needed a spare mic, and it was cheaply priced. I still keep it in my bag of gear as a spare just in case but only because the microphone functions as a microphone to allow me to amplify a voice. Also I found the cable to be noisy and of poor quality. That being said, the microphone is better when used with a better cable.

a good deal for some extra stuff

    By OldBluesGuy

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Pro-Pak:

I've picked up a couple of these sets when they have come up on "stupid deal of the day." They are a great way to pick up some extras, that you will need from time to time, pretty cheap. For the price of the stand, you also get a cheap mic (but a better one than you would expect), and a cable. I use the stands and cables all the time, and the mics just once in a while. I use the mics as "loaners" when someone wants to borrow the PA, which happens from time to time. I don't worry about them. If they break or get lost I haven't lost anything.
For this kind of money you can't lose.

    Great For Starters

    By TheMusician

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Pro-Pak:

I bought this setup for use in one of my college courses where voice recording would be in high demand. I have never owned a microphone before, but I picked this setup because of what was included. At the price, I naturally thought what I would get would be flimsy and lack quality. What I got was a solid stand and entry-level microphone. I am really impressed the sound quality of the microphone. Then again, this is my first microphone of this nature as I've only used cheap computer microphones before. I couldn't use the cable as I needed the mic to connect to a USB port. But, for the cost, I'd say this is a great deal. All the gear included is nice...right down to the microphone case.

At this price it is Fantastic

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Pro-Pak:

I bought two or three of these when they were on sale. That was two years ago and they are still going strong. I do pro sound. That's my job. These combo packs are for my son's garage band, and for that they are excellent. The cables are fine and continue to function. The stands are pretty darn good and have survived travel and storage and abuse very well. The mic is a little tubby. It is super cardioid. This is great for feedback reduction, and it forces young performers to practice better mic technique. If you must have a better mic, then you should buy one :) For the price of this combo package, you're not going to find a better value, however.Every garage band should use this combo. Every kid under 16 should use this combo. That's my opinion, at least.

High Quality Equipment, Low Quality Mic

    By SRVDrumma

    from Bay Area, CA

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Pro-Pak:

Starting off the bads...the microphone quality is so-so. The sound is very booming and not very clear. Put it this way, the mics would be perfect if you're doing a karaoke night or rehearsing with your band/group. Not so much for performing live. Some of the clips have broken with normal wear and tear. The goods... I love the stand and the cord. The quality of these parts are great, even after some "tough loving". The cords has lasted me over 2 years of use and abuse, and the stands are still holding their own.I ordered 4 of these in 2008. I would recommend to you if you decide to purchase this set, to dump the mic and get something more high quality and well-known. The mic's that came with my set were On Stage Audio Spectrum AS-400s.
