Comments about Ludwig Challenger Bass Drum:

Alright. So I'm a 19 yr. old drummer of many hats. Blues/rock being my favourite, but I've played jazz (in all forms), country (old style), funk, punk, metal, blues (in all forms), art/roots rock (i.e. Neil Young *Harvest/After the Goldrush era*, Don Mclean, Mumford and Sons, Cat Stevens, etc), indie, big band, symphonic, you name it. I am a lover of all things *music*. Meaning anything involving actual instruments, not computers and keyboards. Computers don't feel the music, and it's an emotional experience. Anyhow, this drum is top notch. Ludwig never disappoints (though I believe drums should be more individualized, they'd make more money that way), and the heads this drum came with were actually quite pleasing. Now, being a huge Bonham fan, I slapped some legs on it, and away we go! Hahaha, as I said, individualized. Don't build a box for yourself.

Comments about Ludwig Challenger Bass Drum:

For marching band, or Drum Corps, these bass drums are great when tuned properly. Clean, dark sound which will enhance any style music. The only drawback is the weight, but they are very well made.
Prob the best sounding marching bass drums available. When tuned properly, great projection, great full dark sound.
Well made, alittle on the heavy side, but the sound is the best-period.
    Worth the price-8ply wood.
