    The Quantum extreme tension snare drum will accommodate all head types and remains full, open, and sensitive at all levels of tension. The special support posts connect the tube to the shell, providing maximum stability while transmitting more vibration from the top casting down to the bottom part of the shell. Specifications include a 6 ply (2 interior Birch/4 exterior Maple) shell with 12 tube suspension frame, die cast aluminum hoops, pro marching strainer with reinforced synthetic gut snares, 3 air vents and weighs only 17.6 lbs!

    Mapex Quantum XT review

    I have owned this drum for about a month now and i absolutely love. It is a very good purchase and i do recomend this drum. Forthe price this drum has done what was asked of it and far surpassed my expectations. Mapex did a very good job of making a quality marching snare with a low price.

    Quantum Snare

    Comments about Mapex Quantum XT Snare Drum:

    This drum appears to be the combination of three different manufacturers. The throwoff is a carbon copy of Dynasty's, which is o.k. but it has some unwanted "play" in it and is not as smooth as I would like. The lugs are very similar to Yamaha's in design, which I really do like. The top half-batter hoop etc... appears to be similar to Pearl's championship line in that the tension rods line up with the lug casings. Hoops are great quality as well as the lugs, everything overall for the most part I guess. The shell has maple and birch plies and is flawless. I like the re-enforcement ring on the bottom for some reason, don't know if it's necessary though. 12 snare strands are nice and to me it sounds like a Pearl to some degree. When I received my drum one of the lugs was bent. I'm hoping this issue was a shipping problem and not a quality issue from the factory. Hopefully a replacement is on it's way soon. Overall, I think the Mapex Quantum line has the best sound quality compared to other manufacturers.
