Comments about Remo Black Max Crimped Marching Snare Drum Head:

Forever I've been looking for that perfect snare "Crack/Pop" sound, and this beauty just sings all of it with flying colors. As you might know, Abe Cunningham (deftones) uses this head in the song "My Own Summer (Shove It)" where it undeniably shows how powerful and amazing this snare head can sound. I've read warnings however that it is not recommended for a wooden framed snare due to the high pressure this baby needs to get its tune just right. We as a band are in studio right now and we put the Black Max on our drummer's Pearl Steel Piccolo right before tracking... let me tell you our tracking engineer is as professional as drummers get and even he was just blown away with the sound. The money is worth it guys, you really cant put a price on perfection.

Comments about Remo Black Max Crimped Marching Snare Drum Head:

These heads give you a darker tone then its brother white max. This head is for the specific use on a marching snare with a free floating snare ring because this is a high tension head used at most drum corps/ marching band drumlines. i do not reccomend using this head on any wood to head contact drums such as on your normal drumset snare because with such high tension these heads can buckle the shell. This is what the high tension drums of today were made for. even your best steel or say brass snare could possible be damanged from the tension this head could cause. but for those who want that sound and that type of head for a drumset snare evans has a hybrid head called "evans hybrid coated snare drum batter head"(copy and paste that phrase and it will come up) this will give you what you looking for and not damage you set snare.

I have this head on 13x11 marching snare(Ludwig)in my Bonham style kit(1 up 2 down)arrangement. It definitely keeps up volume wise with the oversized drums 14x12 rack,16 & 18 floors and a 24inch bass but you have to tune it up tight to get the sensitivity that I like for rolls and delicate stickwork and I don't like to tune that high. also very durable 2 years old and still looks & sounds great. But I think I'm ready for a change. If you like a super tight snare this is for you, kinda pricey though.

About 3 weeks ago my newphew came down from VA. to play with me at church. Man he was setting up the drums and started playing the snare and I was blown away by the sound that was coming from that head. If you want to upgrade the sound coming from any snare drum you use in church, get this head. It is great! Very loud and durable. If you have ever play snare drum in marching band you know how these heads sound. I recomend it to all drummer who want to upgrade from regular snare heads on there standard snare, picolio, and pop corn snare drums. This head make the drum set sound so different.

This is an awesome head, its got a very loud volume sound great, even better with a drum kit. I found this in my high school band room and no one was using it so I took because mine busted and its the best thing that happen to my snare.

This is a great head for your marching needs and reforms really well. Not only that, but I've found this drum head is also great for uses on concert snare drums. I use a Taye ProX drums set and I put an old one I got for free on it and it sounds great!

The Remo Black Max Crimped Marching Snare Drum Head is by far one of the best marching heads I've ever used. I play on a pearl championship and my heads take a fair beating....and this head does it all. It sounds so nice when you tune it just right (which is easy to do with this head). All in all, if you're looking for an amazing head...this is it!
