An MXL57 shockmount was included with my MXL V63M mic, and I love it! It?s durable, fits my mic perfectly, and eliminates unwanted noises from entering the mic via the mic stand. The MXL57 easily screws onto the threaded end of a mic stand or boom. This is a must for recording applications; and I definitely would?ve purchased this separately, had it not been included in the mic package.

Like many of the other reviews for the MXL-58 shock mount posted here, my tightener was insufficient to support the weight of an MXL-V63M condenser mic from the start. The mic would continually fall forward without any contact. The problem is Marshall has used a soft metal winged bolt (not wing nut) that threads directly into the far side of the hinge. Mine SHEARED OFF on the SECOND DAY. Fortunately I'm handy and have tools and drilled out the remainder of the soft bolt, bored it out slightly larger (being careful with all that soft metal, I didn't want destroy the components), and fitted a solid phillip's head bolt with its own lock washer and nut. I have to break out a screwdriver and pliers to adjust it if I want, but at least its gotten the materials it needs to function properly. When I see the number of reviews just here on this site mentioning this fault and wonder how many more are on other retailer sites or bulletin boards, etc., I'm surprised Marshall would ignore such a simple fix. If someone at Marshall is reading this (yeah, right) bear in mind this makes an impression of the kind of quality one might expect with more expensive Marshall products. Marshall is shooting itself in the foot on this.

    Believe the reviews

Comments about MXL 57 1006 Shockmount:

I received this with my MXLV63M mic. Granted I had it for two years (however I have only used it for a year now). And I noticed it does transfer sounds through the microphone (as a previous post suggests). The microphone would also droop calling for me to tighten the the shockmount connect. Inevitably, it literally just broke (while tightening) and I'm forced to buy another because I'm unaware of other fitting shockmounts.

    Its not that bad

Comments about MXL 57 1006 Shockmount:

I needed a shockmount for my MXL V67G, and even after reading all the bad reviews I picked one up anyway. Its not superb quality but it serves its purpose. As long as you just tighten it up enough to hold the mic in position it won't break. Even if the hinge part breaks you could replace it with another from any standard mic clip...which I've done with another MXL shockmount.

    Too bad it didn't work...

Comments about MXL 57 1006 Shockmount:

The MXL 57 1006 shock mount came with my MXL V63M mic that I purchased maybe a year ago. Shortly after setting it up, I noticed that the hinge kept slipping and making the mic fall forward. Eventually the knob that tightens it snapped off, and my mount is now useless. I definitely do not recommend this product.

I wish this didn't even come with the mic.

Comments about MXL 57 1006 Shockmount:

This thing is a piece of garbage. It came with my MXLV63M microphone. Out of the box, it didn't even work. The hinges connecting the mount to the stand don't even tighten. How this passed any sort of quality tests is beyond me.

    Terrible

    By Vincent-3tXLu

Comments about MXL 57 1006 Shockmount:

This shock mount (MXL-57) came with a V67g mic that I purchsed. The mic is great but this shock mount is garbage. The arms of the clamp that hold the mic body run on the elastic bands and make noise that is transfered to the microphone. It is also cheap feeling and as others have said the elastic bands will fail. Not happy with this mount at all and I will be searching for a different shock mount to use with the V67g. The mic also came with a basic mic clip that I will use for now.

This Shock Mount didn't last 2 months in the studio. The threads were stripped without forcing of the tightening nut.

    Just adequate

    By RobDog

    from Sacramento, CA

Comments about MXL 57 1006 Shockmount:

Good: cheap, and not brand or model specific. Bad: hard to tighten (tends to "droop" when holding a heavy mic), and protective felt is poorly applied. OK for the price, wouldn't pay more...
