Composing and training software for guitarists.

Amateur and professional guitarists alike will find PROGRESSION guitar software by Notion to be a useful tool for getting ideas worked out, or simply mastering the tricks and licks of their favorite songs. It includes thousands of real samples of electric and acoustic guitar from Neil Zaza (known for his instrumental compositions), as well as electric bass and drum samples from Grammy-winning brothers Victor and Roy "Future Man" Wooten (Bela Fleck & the Flecktones). Guitar and bass amp simulators, VST-hosting capability for using personal effects plug-ins, and amp modelers enable full control of guitar tones.

Besides the great sounds that are possible, the easy-to-use application will help capture new song ideas in real time and play them back instantly, even scoring the music for the composer. Users can quickly enter guitar tablature or standard notation with keyboard and mouse, MIDI guitar, or MIDI keyboard and the software will create the notation of the performance. Any changes to guitar tablature, key, or tempo are automatically updated. Other instruments can be added for the feel of a full band, or guitar parts and solos can be isolated for more beneficial practicing.

PROGRESSION guitar software's audio exporting and printing features means artists can share not only an audio file, but a standard sheet music, with leads and tabs as well.

Comments about Notion PROGRESSION Guitar Composition Software:

Progression is the greatest. I tried another product and it was really difficult to use. But Progressions is great. It is easy to use. The interactive fretboard is great. I was writing a score the first day. Everyone should have Progession.

    Better than the other programs.

Comments about Notion PROGRESSION Guitar Composition Software:

So the reason I wanted to try this program over Guitar Pro is because GP kept making errors when converting to notation. In this program, the tab to notation is flawless! You can either click on the tab staff and enter a fret number or you can click on the notation staff to enter a note. When you enter a note, it puts a number in the tab staff. If it puts it on the wrong string, just hit the up or down arrow and it will transpose that note to a different string with a higher/lower fret but still the same note. Theres also a fretboard diagram where you can just click on the fretboard and it will enter that note. So getting accurate fingering shapes is very easy to do. There are amp simulators in it that make the midi sound way better than other programs. (The generic sound computer in Guitar Pro and Powertab is hard to listen to sometimes.) But there are samples of a few different types of amps, for bass and guitar as well as drums and keyboards. Drum notation is also available. It's nice to use actual drum notation rather than numbers on lines like in guitar pro. Im sure a drummer who reads drum notation would have no problem at all with this feature. I don't read drum notation (or even drum tab), but it was very easy to figure out. The drum samples sound pretty decent, too. Perfect for laying down a backing track to jam over.It also has the option to plug in a midi guitar and play straight to notation. I havent tried this because I dont have a midi pickup, but thats a pretty amazing feature.
