Comments about Bellafina Select Pernambuco Cello Bow:
Overall, the bow falls in just above the middle of the road, I assigned it a "6" for that reason. When I discovered in the ad that it was not a pernambuco bow, but instead it is made of carbon fiber I decided to give it a try anyway. There was no country of origin listed, and when I received it the only clue I had as to the country of origin was the sticker on the frog which said "Made In China" (which doesn't necessarily mean poorly made, but QC is spotty there).
I settled on the carbon fiber material in the hopes that the extreme humidity swings here in Minnesota where I live would affect my bow to a lesser extent.
After I've used it for awhile, I'm sure I can write a much more comprehensive review.
The frog, screw and tip are all good quality. The hair is good quality horsehair, I can't attest to the fact that it's Siberian or from which kind of horse it may have originated.
I'm rating quality just one step above the middle (6). When I received it, there were loose bow hairs hanging out from both the frog and the tip. l was concerned that as soon as i would tighten the bow the hank would pull out of one end or the other.
I trimmed all the loose bow hair off (quite a few), tightened the bow and rosined it. So far, there have only been a couple more loose hairs. It appears that maybe the bow builders used too large of a hank for the bow.
Value for the price at this time appears to be about right. I didn't expect a truly professional quality bow, it is of the "better" student quality though.
