Comments about D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings:
I am a bluegrass fiddler and play indoors, outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions. These strings work perfect! Mellow when needed and bright when needed. Even across the board if you use the Wound E. Good in the studio too!

Comments about D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings:
I tour on a regular basis and these are my go to strings. Use both for my electric and acoustic as they react great with the piezo pickups and still have a warm acoustic sound, without sounding muted. I buy $100-$200 worth at a time usually finding Musician's Friend to have the best price with one of their infamous coupons.
With my electric violin I put on a new set every 2-3 months and I've only had one bad string out of package in the last 5 years. That's reliability.
Comments about D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings:
Not quite as deep of a sound as I had hoped for. But they play pretty smooth, and they tune and break in quickly. I put them on an electric fiddle. Definitely worth the value.
Comments about D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings:
I purchased a set thinking they'd be a good lower-cost alternative to Thomastic Dominants, which I've used for a few years. While stringing, the low E broke on me almost immediately. I went ahead and used the high A and high E strings, which sound all right. However, I quickly sprung for another set of Dominants, which strung up with no problems and, to my taste, sound richer. I'd suggest paying the extra $20 for the Thomastics. It's worth it. I can get almost a year of daily playing out of them.
Comments about D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings:
As steel strings go, these are probably the best choice. Not as bright and thin as a monolithic steel. Break in quickly, hold tune wonderfully, and they last a long time.
You won't get the complexity and depth of sound a good synthetic will give you, though if you want a more focused tone they can still be a good choice. And they're cheaper and last longer.
If you're a pro, you already know what works for your taste, style, and instrument. If you're just learning... well, you could do a lot worse. They cost more than cheap steel strings, but it's worth it. Violin's hard enough to learn, without dealing with bad-sounding strings at the same time.
Comments about D'Addario Helicore 4/4 Size Violin Strings:
Helicore strings are on the warm side for a steel core, very responsive, stay in tune, long life. Professional quality strings. I like the wound E, gives the bow more to grab onto, never whistles even though I'm a novice player.
