The Ingles Cello (and bass) stand appears to be the best on the market, in this design. It is adjustable for height; I use it at the highest level, and then drop my cello end pin to just touch the floor. (This sets the end pin adjustment for me.) A cellist really will benefit from a stand. The instrument is so big - and delicate - that it should be set up on a stand when getting ready to play. (When the cello is done for the day, it should be in a hard-shell case, to protect it from humidity changes as well as accidental damage to the instrument.) As to the price, this is a steal. It sells for somewhat more on other sites I have seen. The only significantly different design I have see for cello stands is one made of wood, that is like a short box that snugly fits the bottom of the cello. That type is far more expensive, and would be OK in a music store perhaps... but the Ingles gives significant support also at the top of the instrument. I recommend this stand without reservation.

The Ingles Cello/Bass Stand is strong and solid enough to trust for your fine instrument's safety. I am a music teacher who teaches orchestra, band and choir at a small school. I have used one of these stands to store my cello in the classroom for years and.just purchased another for home use It can be adjusted so that I can leave the endpin out so that I can put my cello on it quickly to have my hands free to conduct or to help a student with positioning their instrument or bow. When I need to play, my instrument is availiable within seconds. I have also used it to hold my guitar and bass guitar at times--usually a very sight adjustment is needed in the neck portion of the stand to change from it's cello position. It is well padded--never a concern about scratching the finish. I have only used it with cellos (and guitars) never a bass.
This is a real winner!

Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
I bought this for my 11-year-old son who always complained about getting his cello out of the case before each practice. This stand has solved that problem! I love the adjustable height which allows the end pin to remain out safely. It will fit any size cello. It is well-padded and sturdy. The hanger for the bow is perfect and the neck guard goes into place easily. I love that I got this item on a fantastic price plus free shipping from Musician's Friend. I got it 4 days after ordering! Love it. Very pleased!

Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
I read the reviews before my purchase, but don't believe the negative ones. In my opinion you will not find the "perfect" bass stand, but this one does the job very well. It will not replace the large, sturdy, shelf, wooden types you see in music stores, but who is going to carry one of those to a gig? The best way to secure any bass is to place it on the floor if room allows, but it is rare to have that luxury in a pit or small club. I use it in my home studio to keep the bass off the floor in a small space and it is worth the money to alleviate the hassle of always picking up and putting down. Also my Gamba style upright fits very precariously in the traditional, flimsy Hamilton stand with folding arms. The adjustable arms, padding, and neck lock work perfectly on the Ingles. It is set so the bass never touches the floor, even when the end pin is in my preset playing position. It could be manufactured a little more sturdier, but for the price you can't beat it.

Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
Most of the other review were praises but I did see a few talking about this stand being unstable or flimsy. I went ahead and ordered it anyway based on the number of positive reviews. The stand turned out to be more than I expected. It is high quality sturdy metal but is also light. I love that it is adjustable so I can have it high enough not to have to mess with my endpin as well as keep it up away from my pets. And even though I have it set high, it is still stable. Right now I have it on carpet and am more than pleased with it. The braces for the instrument have neoprene padding that is sufficient to prevent scratching. I am extremely happy with this purchase and highly recommend it!

Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
Despite the cons, this is a decent low-priced bass stand. I've used it with 2 uprights:
a Palatine VE-550 (EUB)
a Samuel Shen 100 (3/4 upright bass, acousitc)
It's rare to find a stand that works with the Palatino, due to it's odd body shape. This may be your only option there.
I do find that stand a bit flimsy in construction, so I don't think it'd handle hard touring. It also doesn't fold up very well. So, it's kinda bulky that way. (But then again, so is an upright!)
Be careful when using with an electric upright (Palatine VE series), as the center of gravity is high, making it unstable if you don't set the seat carefully.
Still, it's far better than no stand and relatively inexpensive. For the price, it's a good product.

Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
I have this stand for my double bass, and it's terrific -- very sturdy and stable. I have been looking for a suitable stand for my daughter's 1/2 size cello and was not pleased with the few options available. I adjusted my Ingles stand for her cello and found it works really well. For the cello, its footprint is a bit large but it's otherwise perfect. We're able to store both the bass and the cello with their endpins set to play.
Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
For bass, the stand is not totally useless, but as noted above it is a poor design and not very well build. There are superior alternatives.
I owned this stand briefly and returned it due to its poor design. This stand appears to have been designed originally for cello, and then repurposed for bass (made larger). From the photos (not those on this web site), it looks like it could work OK for cello, but it does not work for bass. The weight of the instrument is carried by the back edge of the lower bout, and the neck; the front of the lower bout makes no contact with the stand whatsoever. This is not a good design for bass - the instrument is not held securely.
The construction seemed flimsy and not fully secure. The adjustable neck holder is wobbly and the bow holder is small. It has been noted by other users on a bass web site that the foam on the arms does not hold up and the welds can fail. I did not keep mine long enough to have that happen - I sent it back and bought another mfr's bass stand, which is far superior.
See note above re construction.
The value is low since it is a poor design for bass, and not that well made.
Spend your money on a different stand.
Comments about Ingles Cello and Bass Stand with Bow Holder:
Delivered promptly. The gray-colored metal is a little industrial looking, but not really a big concern. I put it together in less than five minutes. My husband is thrilled! We now have his bass standing in the corner of our livingroom!
The SA-22 Ingles cello/bass stand went together very quickly and is easy to handle.
Sturdy, metal construction.
Worth the cost.
