Rarely am I so impressed with a company or its product to be compelled to leave a review, but I had to in this case. My ordering process (9 items- great potential for mistakes)with a phone rep of Musician's Friend went like clockwork, thanks to his attention to detail, competence and no-nonsence approach. The confirmation was received immediately, the processing and shipping was fast and my order was accurate. The SC3EL violin looks gorgeous with the sound to match. As already mentioned in the other reviews, it's a great value. The rosin, found in the case it came with, was a surprise. My friends fell in love with this violin as well and I would absolutely recommend this instrument and this company to anyone.

This is not a horrible violin for the money, but I think I would look elsewhere. The biggest complaint would be the fine tuners which had to be replaced after six months. The ones that came with the violin were made of cheap metal and bent out of shape to the point where the tuning screw did not work. I bought new tuners from a supplier which were much better quality and was back in business. The tone is a tad flat.

Good Deal

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

I'm definitely happy with this violin.
Having a pickup is a great option, I gave this a 9 because it would be nice to have treble/bass controls, but there's other ways to control that.
As I'm just learning violin, I can't really speak to the overall quality of the instrument's tone (although this is always somewhat subjective and varies with each individual instrument). However, I am an experienced guitarist, and I can testify that the pickup and the sound into my amp definitely seems solid. It's fun to run it through efftects as well. The body seems solid and well-crafted, but I'm not too convinced with the bow.
For under $1,000 this is definitely the best value you can find for a violin with both acoustic and electric options.

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

Got my second Silver Creek violin. Was not happy with the first one ordered, (a second), but this one is almost top notch. Tuning is so fantasticily easy. No more fighting with the tuners when you have wide range fine tuners at the bridge. Plays grand. The 2nd, I kept, too, because it had the best case and you can't find violin cases that have special pockets for your shoulder attachments. I switched cases, and let my son have the old one with the new case. I took it to church and played with the sanctuary empty and filled the air with music.

      Nice Violin for the Price

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this product. It is fun to play, and I am currently using it out. The violin arrived in a timely manner, and was in perpect condition when I unwrapped it. In fact, I waited for the UPS trunk to show up before taking it straight to band rehearsal to begin breaking it in.
I like the position of the volume control. I have seen other models with controls that are on the side which would make it hard if not impossible to adjust during the middle of a song.
Better than any other violin for the price. The SC3EL Acoustic/Electric Violin was just what I was looking for.
When you consider the amount you are paying, you are getting a great value. One of my friends had this model that I used before purchasing mine. Sounds great plugged in and unplugged.

Great Violin to start out with, that you won't outgrow for a long time. Got it in Honey Blond looks great for the price. Sound quality matches the looks, even with the original strings!
Fine tuner head was broke off for one string, sent back. Thanks GC for such quick replacement
For the money great sound and looks wonderful!

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

I have always wanted to learn how to play the fiddle. I first bought a very cheap beginner violin and I could not get a clean note out of it. I was about to give up and one my friends who plays with Jeff Cook of Alabama suggested this beauty. I took his advice and now am playing the fiddle during our gigs! I chose the natural color. It really stands out on stage. The pick-up is American made and sounds great through the PA. I would highly recommend this jewel to anyone wanted to play fiddle or violin.

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

I love this thing! The pickups really sesonate and the action is fair for the price. Use a good rosin and it will highly improve the quality. Tuning pegs leave a little to desire but all in all it is a great deal. I notice that there is not alot of feedback from the pickups and when using distortion it really has a good kick and a unique sound. Only problem was the long wait for mine. Make sure it is in stock.

      So glad I got it!

      By Anonymous

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

I have had the Silver Creel SC3EL Acoustic/electric violin over a year now. I got the golden one. Many people have commented on the beauty of it. The color makes it stand out from the crowd. Makes you think of the golden fiddle the devil offered Johnny in The Devil Went Down To Georgia, by Charlie Daniels. It is my first violin. It will probably be my last also because I cannot imagine getting a better one without paying well over a thousand dollars for one that might? be better. I have priced many and this is a good value. I gave it a 4 on features because it would have been nice to have had a tone knob. On quality, it sounds great alone or through my Fender Acoustasonic Jr amp. I use the chorus or chorus/reverb on the amp and it makes me sound really good. The pickup does a great job.I replaced the wooden pegs with Knilling Perfection planetary pegs. They look like regular wooden pegs, but act like guitar tuning gears. You don't have to worry about temperature or humidity loosening the pegs causing you to spend time retuning. I left the fine tuners in. They are still very useful. When you get this violin, make sure the sound post, a small wooden dowel about 1/4 " is inside the violin under the bridge. You can see it through the f hole.It supports the top of the violin from too much down ward force from the strings and also adds to the quality of sound. Overall I am very glad I bought this violin. I by far don't play the best but I sure enjoy it.

      Very Nice for the Money

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

I bought the blonde version of this fiddle. Overall this instrument is well worth the money, especially if you get it at the sale price. The one I received was more pumpkin colored than honey blonde, but it is very handsome. The back is not flamed in the least. In fact, my sample is not even book-matched. The top is a nice piece of spruce, and it's all solid, carved wood, but not nearly as pretty as other fiddles I've seen.Of course, the big deal is that this is an electric. It has a Barcus Berry violectra pickup. Works perfectly well.Good tone, plays well, nice wood, plugs in. It's exactly what it says it is.

What can I say. It was exactly what the positive reviews said it would be. I'm transferring mandolin To fiddle so not looking for orchestral quality. Plays well, friend of mine gave it a thumbs up and he's a long time fiddle player. I had no luck with included rosin but had some from my daughters' violin and that did the trick. Case is soft but travel worthy(rigid sides). Seems to stay in tune for me so far but I haven't given it a workout yet. Only plugged it in once to hear it and seemed more than enough for my requirements. Overall very happy

Comments about Silver Creek SC3B Acoustic-Electric Violin:

This violin is my first upgrade from a very inexpensive student violin and I love the improvement in tone this violin gives me. My instructor also pronounced this as a "winner". It holds its tune well and has a very rich, mellow tone. The electronics work well and do not distort the violin's tone. My only complaint is with the color as I was expecting that lovely honey color that is pictured. The violin that arrived is more of a dark mahogany color. I did not return it because I fell in love with the rich tone of this instrument!

One thing to watch for, though; the rosin included is horrible - if you purchase a name brand rosin, like d'adarrio, you'll find the bow is actually quite good. All in all, though, this is a real bargain,
