I've had excellent results using the dark rosin when bowing cymbals, gongs, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, piano strings, tambourine heads, and the entire string family. After a year of extensive use I can still see the original grooves I cut in the surface when I first got it. Goes on consistently and without damaging the bow (I've lost 2 hairs in that year, right after I got the bow). Not much else to say, if you need rosin, this is good stuff.

Upon opening this rosin from its box for the first time, I saw that it was badly cracked in about a hundred places. When I use it, I have to be careful not to cause chips to come loose and fall out. This may have been due to the unusually low temperatures during transit (we had a major cold snap hit the mid west, and the temperature dropped into the teens for a few days). It may be possible to fix this rosin by placing it into the oven at around 200 to 300 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. I plan to try that to see if it will re-solidify into one unified piece. Even if it doesn't, though, it can still be used and it does work.

Mine, like just about everyone else's here, arrived cracked and broken, but it is indeed still usable and I'm not finding any problems. It's cracked, but still intact in its holder.
                Great price too!

This rosin normally is a good product...when I opened the little box it comes in the rosin was cracked throughout...I do not think it will last very long without falling apart...since both blocks I recieved were like this I did not feel any others I would order would be any better...I reccomend buying rosin at a music store where you can check it first to make sure it is in good condition.
