Comments about The Realist Double Bass Transducer Pickup:

I LOVE this pickup! I had the Fishman BP-100 for years and ALWAYS hated it. Tinny as hell and it constantly fed back even though I used several different pre-amps. You could never get a decent tone because you had to roll off all the highs and most of the mids. Recently I was in a music store and heard someone playing the cello version of this pickup. I LOVED the tone, and I like the bass version just as much. For the first time I get the "GROWL" you want from your string bass. I also finally get a good bowed sound. It has a nice warm midrange and well-defined high frequencies - a very natural sound. I can turn it up to a decent volume onstage and not have to worry about feedback. I'm so happy - Two C-notes well-spent!

Comments about The Realist Double Bass Transducer Pickup:

I own a '52 Epiphone upright that I had installed a cheap pickup on. The sound was real thin or tinny, so I did tons of research and finally bit the bullet and purchased the Realist. I love the tone and overall sound. It was easy to install and hardly noticeable. I was pleased with overall purchase as I have been in the past from Musicians Friend. Thanks!

After using it on the 1st gig, band members and listeners alike said that it sounded like there was no amplification, just a natural sound that balanced in the big band.

Comments about The Realist Double Bass Transducer Pickup:

I am a working musician- jazz, orch pits, etc. I got the Realist to see if it worked better on my Kay bass than the K&K sound max (I have a Fishman Full-Circle on my other Kay). I A/B'ed them and the Realist sounded significantly better- warmer, and more authentic than the K&K, and I like it better than the Fishman. I actually enjoy playing the bass more. Installation a bit of work, but not too bad, and plugging into the pick up is not as secure as I would like- but small details. So far, my favorite pick-up of the three mentioned above by a significant margin.
